I'm being sarcastic because BB81 said he wasn't. I explained how he took ownership of the team and rallied them to titles multiple ties past decade.

But for Belgian NT he definitely was not coming off as a leader. As probably @Seven and @Buck Fuddy can attest to better.
I know not every Belgian feels this way, but I truly believe Hazard was our leader.

I know he comes across as carefree (and he probably is), but his talent was undeniable and our team was really built around him. If you look at the 2018 World Cup our performance is basically an Eden Hazard highlight reel.

No wonder Belgium didn't win shit :p :b81:

I like De Bruyne as a player, no doubt.

However, this is not the kind of profile we should be looking for: old, has won everything at club level, and nothing left to prove. That's why I'm also against targeting someone like Salah, as great as he has been this season (and I'm saying this as an Egyptian).

Maybe we should try and find a younger De Bruyne or Salah somewhere. We need young and hungry players with the right level of experience who want to win and win now. That's what will elevate this team. We also need the coach to stick to a lineup and stop goofing off and fucking around.
If you look at our 2014-15 squad, which was drop dead gorgeous, we did not have one particular player who was at the level of a De Bruyne or a Salah. We did have a mix of older and up and coming players, who either had been or had the potential to be at that level. I think this is what we should aim for, rather than invest half our income in a young star.

Fuck De Bruyne. He's a broken, soulless fossil

If we want any experienced fossil, would take 40 Yr old Modric over him

But we need experienced champions for sure. If we're looking at such profiles, at least sign players who are fit and can play 40-50 games a season.

Van Dijk for example who is out of contract but we most likely won't be able to afford him.

KDB would be a gamble. I dont really like him and wouldnt want him here, but if the problem for him is how fast the EPL is then maybe he could do go in Italian league and then he would probably be a great acquisation. Anyway, he will demand enormous wages according to his interviews so we will passs on anyway

Not even that.

Look, I love KDB. Obviously. But injuries have really hampered him over the years, he's 34 and he has hinted at taking a big paycheck in Saudi Arabia. It's insane to even consider him.

de bruyne also looks bitter and burnt out every time he speaks. i don't think he has the motivation to continue for years. everyone plays for a paycheck too and it's fine, but when you only pay for the paycheck, then - with vlahovic and arthur being the exceptions with old shitty contracts - current jj is not your club

We got Di Maria at 34 and apart from a few minor injuries he did excellent job. But De Bruyne has been inconsistent since he got injured. He has been poor this season, 27 games and only 3 goals. I would rather not take risks, high salaries and a lot of injuries are what we are dealing with now.

Di Maria was a piece of shit. He was mostly trash for us. He had a grand total of 4 goals in Serie A during his tenure here. He was wonderful in that game against Nantes where he scored a hatrick, and had a memorable outing against Sassuolo in the league, but that was about it. He perhaps played like 5 good games and was injured for 20. Fuck that ugly mug.

Being the best player (which he def was at some point) is not the same as being a leader. Leaders don't eat hamburgers outside the fucking stadium when the game is still on.

Half our budget going to a fed and falling star's salary like De Bruyne ain't much better. Ideally we'd find gems like Barzagli or Pirlo that can guide the line while being experienced and cheap too. But they don't grow on trees ofc...

De Bruyne is the sort of player to go to inter and be amazing for 2 or 3 years.

If he comes to JJ he will be injured within a month and will spend the next 5 years in a wheelchair on high wages.

Sandro Tonali to 'La Repubblica': "Juventus? We never talked about it with my agents. And I know, from experience, that if you don't get to that step there is nothing concrete. And anyway here I feel good about myself, I have found my line and there is no need to distort it again. I want to win for the Newcastle fans, soon we will have the first chance at Wembley."
