Why are people so against Retegui? Is it because of Atalanta? Personally I think he plays an unselfish brand of football I like. He’s very good off the ball, finishing, finding space in the box (Vlahovic sucks at this) creating for others and can fit multiple systems.

Yeah, I keep wondering the same....maybe its his unlikeble face
retegui without gasp (at genoa): 7g2a in 2226 minutes.
retegui in the nt: 6g1a in 1110 minutes.

a goal in every 256 minutes. a goal or assist in every 208 minutes. and imo that's the player we'd be getting. (for comparison, vlahovic for jj: a goal in every 174 minutes, a g/a in every 139 minutes.)

he also massively "overscored" his chances this season. call it luck, gasp effect, whatever. so far he's a one season wonder for me :boh:

id rather spend 40-50m on Retegui than 70-100M on Gyökeres tbh
okay, whether jj needs to spend 70m on a striker or not is a good point. we need so many players, there's no one priority. if he had a complete squad only lacking a killer finisher, i'd get gyökeres. but this jj needs experience, leadership, cb, fullbacks, midfielders, wingers on regular contracts (not loanees), etc

regardless of the price tag, gyökeres is a clearly better player imo

I don't think there is any part of his game that stands out. Physically is isn't strong or fast. He isn't particularly technical, good at hold up or a good dribbler either.

Then there was his season at Genoa the season before last which was underwhelming and poor performances for Italy.

Nothing really suggests that if you take him out of that Atalanta team that he will replicate it.

Why didn't we sign Kevin De Bruyne? He's still good at 33.
Suppose the only question is how durable he'll be as he's had issues with playing in pain for 1.5 seasons now. I know he says he's back to his best fitness but he probably would say that coming to the end of his contract. Time will tell. He's obviously pure class but fitness issues aged 33 don't sound like a player who will play 3000 minutes.

He'd cost 100 only if we buy him.

Otherwise 60 imo

"One of the agent's biggest concerns was whether we would demand the termination clause," said Sporting Lisbons Chairman Varandas.

"He wanted to guarantee certain things. And what was agreed? That Sporting would not demand a release clause now.

"For one reason: he was going to be 27 years old and no player leaves Portugal at 27 for 100m euros or 90m euros.

"In that same meeting the agent wanted to anchor the exit to a value. I said this sentence: 'It's not worth us setting a value because I don't know what will happen in a year's time. I don't know if it will be 40m euros, 60m euros or 80m euros. What I can guarantee is that I will not demand 100m euros.'"
75m euros and its a done deal imo.
