Looking at our mercato, it feels like its being influenced and put together by several actors:
1. Allegri, who doesnt give a fuck about longterm planning or finances. He knows that if he doesnt deliver this season he's gone, so Max is in survival mode.
2. Arrivabene, who came up with a clear framework on what is and what is not acceptable financially in terms of wages, commissions, transfer fees, resale values etc
3. Cherubini, who probably is the most reasonable one, but has the impossible job to find balance and overlapping between 1 and 2, therefore only moves at snails pace.
Max probably requested Pogba, ADM, MDS renewal and all the other experienced names we're linked with.
Bene kicked out Dybs, Bentancur and Kulu so that Bini could bring in Vlahovic and Zakaria. Told Berna and de Ligt to fuck off at those wages. Vetoed the Morata purchase that was agreed.
Bini probably brought in Bremer and Kostic this summer and Loca the previous one.
The result is a frankenstein squad thats neither here nor there. Bene's financial rules dont matter if with one hand we're enforcing them with Dybala and with the other breaking them with Pogba and di Maria, we're creating as much problems as we're solving. The short term fixes Max requested won't help if there're still gaping holes all over this squad.
