A player on the verge of retirement openly saying he wants to play in europe so he is sharp for the World Cup and then go to Argentina. But people are tripping over themselves asking to make him our second highest earner.

Cheaper salary or avoid, he should be an extra if anything, not the focus of this obsession.
Chiellini wanted to go to the US and the world cup too, yet he was/is far from mentally done. He was physically finished but Di Maria ain't.

Salary is a different discussion for me. I don't mind it if it's only one season.

Not sure I understand why folks think Di Maria will just give up after the world cup if he has commited to a contract. Has he ever shown himself to be less than a model professional and serial winner?

Of the two players we have been most heavily linked with I don't think Di Maria is the one whose professionalism is concerning :PP:

You can’t compare a club legend like Chiellini to a new signing. The level of commitment is not comparable.

Chiellini should not be signed for 7m per year by us. It would be a terrible move. For that matter no 35 year old should be signed unless they are very cheap or an absolute phenomenon.

There are reports of tension with Cuadrado because his renewal was something like 5m. Its insulting to offer 7m to an unmotivated Di Maria but deny 5m to, and let go of, Cuadrado. That's the problem with inflating salaries for a mercenary.

That's been denied.

I'm not discussing the salary. I'm saying people naming him 'unmotivated' based on frankly nothing are just making stuff up.

It's just an example, pal. Of course Chiellini is different but he'd be motivated on any team, not just Juve if he decided to play on. Hence the comparison.

The deal for Israel to go to Sporting is progressing: all parties are close to agreement, it should be done this week

That's no fucking dream, and if Max thinks it is, he should be placed in a mental institution - Arkham Asylum irl.

Fagiot and Plumberson and "dream" in the same sentence. Tuttoshit must be having a laugh.

Getting Zakaria from BMG and 22yo Vlahovic in January only confirms that.
Zak was not an unknown, and he was coming up on an expiring contract. Vlahovic was a huge investment from a Serie A rival. We shall see what happens this summer, but the names we're being linked with are hardly top talents or promising youngsters with huge potential.

So at least a decent CB, Pogba and Di Maria while recuperating Chiesa, having Vlahovic and Zakaria for the whole season and adding Rovella/Fagioli, would make us struggle for fourth spot in your opinion? :oops2:
It depends on which Pogba we get and how motivated and fit Di Maria will be after the World Cup has concluded in December. Who's the decent CB? Do you really think Koulubaly will come here and betray Napoli?

We will still need another winger, reinforcements @ RB and LB, and we're probably still thin in attack unless Morata is redeemed, so B_Aus isn't wrong in that we might struggle, maybe not to finish top 4, but definitely to compete for the title. I still see Milan and Inter as stronger than us.

I don't want to see either Locatelli or Pogba as Regista. A proper regista like Jorginho or someone similar - could bring out the best of the Loca and Pogba. Rabiot I want out.

Di Maria, Chiesa and Vlahovic is a decent front line to be honest but Di Maria is only a short term solution so we would need a long term strategy for a replacement. Koulibaly is a great addition if he came. Would like a really dynamic left back . I feel that left flank has always lacked the right thrust - can make a big difference offensively. Spinazzola pre injury would have been perfect.
:yuck: :inter:

No! Fuck No!

When our alternatives are zaniolo and berardi then you can understand what is wrong with our transfer policy.
Nothing wrong with Zaniolo. Young, Italian and extremely talented - exactly the type of Italian player we should be going for. Stop being a peasant.

Funny that Tchouameni went for nearly 100M when there were people on here questioning whether he was even worth 40 lol.
That's what Real chose to pay for him, not what he's worth. I like Tchouameni, but he's not a 100 million Euro player. Is De Ligt an 80 million Euro player? Is Grealish really a 120 million Euro player? :boh: :numnum: :b81:

I never doubted Di Maria's professionalism if he came even for just a year, but now this is dragging on and clearly he's looking around, we're not his first option.

Give him an ultimatum and if he doesn't respond go all in on Zaniolo. We have Cuadrado as insurance on that right side for Nicolo, get another cheap left-sided Cuadrado (Kostić?) and be done with it.

Wingers don't have to be the highest quality, just have to be wingers naturally. Look at Milan's right side from this year.

CB and LB are much more important IMO. We need creativity especially at LB to help with Pogba, Loca, Chiesa creating from the back.

De vrij would be a great signing but that won’t happen.

Di Maria seems to be cold shouldering us - fuck him, time to walk away and let him sign for Barca only to not be allowed to be registered for competitive games for them.

Pogba seems a done deal - good signing, happy about this as he will be treated well here and be a quality addition in an area where we are terrible.

Devastated we aren’t seeing any real concrete links to LB’s or LW’s - if we go into next season with the feeble left side that we have today we’ll be lucky to finish 4th again
