Berardi has 32 goals and assists this season, in the league we play in, for a mid table team, with a very low salary, in his prime.

But no, let's scoff at that and go for the 34 year old with 7 times his salary.
You sound like ppl who were saying it's better to buy Belfodil when we were signing Tevez. It's really incomparable. One guy is a pussy he spent entire career playing for small ass club, while the other was an international star and wants to play one more season on highest level.

What kind of comparison is this

Tevez was 29 when we signed him. 5 years younger than Di Maria, a winger, ffs. Tevez was 29, Barzagli was 30, Pirlo was 32, etc. Would you give that salary to 34yo Tevez?

The problem is not to sign Di Maria, it's to do so as the solution to our problems. Our squad needs a lot more than an expensive band-aid solution. If we sort out other problems first, get a younger forward, and then we still have the budget to pay Di Maria 7m per season, then sure. As plan A, no.

Berardi will earn 1mln?
Don't know what he would earn but he currently earns 1m. Triple it and its still less than half the rumored salary for Di Maria.

Let's totally forget that one would come as a free transfer while the other would cost around 40mln.

Our squad need players who are used to play on the highest level, not the ones who are scared of it. I can imagine us choosing someone else that si Maria, but c'mon Berardi is the last person I would trust to improve that squad. Not to mention he can only play Rw, while we should be looking for LW.

I’m quite sure that we won’t stop at Di Maria. It will be Di Maria and another winger, might be Berardi, Zaniolo or someone else. No way that we’ll start with a injured Chiesa, Di Maria and Soule who isn’t a guarantee of course. Especially this summer I expect a lot more.

Yeah, I'm quite convinced there are bigger plans too. We're way too comfortable letting all these players walk for free, not to...

And I think it will be a big signing too.

Di Maria, Muriel/Arnautovic and Pogba (to some extent) will be the ‘cheap’ signings.

After I expect us to seriously invest in another winger and CM.
