What's the point? A short term improvement on our 4th CB spot?
No one is going to take off Rugani from us at his current salary excep Sarri. I dont know what Sarri sees in him but we should have cashed him back then when Chelsea was interested.

This is a win - win situation , Sarri gets the player he wants and we get a 4 CB replacement who might not be the very great but still much better than Rugani and also an Italian international.

I have a feeling SMS will be sold this season, Lazio is making alot of moves in the market and there is no way they can afford all those names without selling a top player.
I can only see it has to be either SMS or Luiz Alberto but the interest on the latter has dried up considerably.

Rugani for Acerbi is a very negative transfer, this is the 4th choice defender we are talking about, Acerbi is 34 years old and Rugani 27. Rugani isn’t as terrible as some here seem to imply and for a 4th choice he’s absolutely fine. This time next year we would need an Acerbi replacement, madness to think that’s a logical move.

Pogba looks like it’s done and I’ll make peace with that, no doubting his quality but I doubt his fitness and mentality, let’s see.

Perisic and Di Maria would be good moves IF we then make further quality signings at CB, LB and CM (additional to Pogba as he’s not enough on his own).

I assume we’ll be lining up with Pogba playing on the left of a midfield 3 with a lot of attacking freedom making it a 4231 in attack with Pogba behind Vlahovic, in which case the fullbacks overlapping will be essential and that LB position needs to be one of the priorities of this Mercato. Cannot watch Sandro stumble his way up the left side for another season or I will cease supporting this club

I don't think he's fine, he will end up playing a big game eventually, and we saw how that went vs Villarreal and vs Ajax too. 4th choice when 1 and 2 are starters isn't really far from playing. If he was 5th choice fine, but for that role I'd take someone versatile like Caceres

I don't believe we are. We're targeting Pogba/SMS and Jorginho/Paredes while we already added Zakaria and Locatelli last season and we're probably assessing Rovella, Miretti, Fagioli too. Depending on sales...

You're asking the wrong question. We're investing in the team as a whole, not fifa22 practices where you splash the budget on one marquee signing when you have 10 holes in the squad.

The names we're being linked with are very clear upgrades. That's all I care about.
SMS sure. Flopgba is a has been, Parepiss is a never was, and fagjiho is a limited one dimensional footballer entering the twilight of his career. The only exciting name on that list is SMS. The others are potentially expensive mistakes.

Every heavy investment is a potential expensive mistake.

United is a toxic environment, I'm willing to bet on Pogba's pure talent because he's "free".

Like or dislike him, Paredes would instantly be our best passer and we're obviously lacking in that regard. And the same statement counts double for Jorgingo ofc. One-dimensional or not, he's a huge improvement imo.

So yeah, not the most exciting names but certainly improvements nonetheless. Also all of them know Serie A and xon't have trouble adapting.

I think that this environment will make a huge difference for Pogba indeed. But to be honest, the point of discussion won’t be his talent nor his mentality, but the injuries.

Paredes and Jorginho would both become starters here without a doubt.
