Giroud perfectly fits what we are exactly looking for. Get Kean on loan as well and be done with.
Wait, what? Are we looking for someone to head the ball down? He's as mediocre as it gets. Giroud had 8 goals last season, 2 goals the season before. Both are extremely underwhelming options that have no place in this squad.

Really? Show me a team that's spending money, Chelsea excluded, these are EXTRAordinary times, no one saw this coming.
Barca are on the verge of buying both Depay & Wilnaldum and are still heavily linked to Martinez. United just bought Van De Beek for £54M and are still in for Sancho (who will cost nothing short of £100M). Bayern got Sane in June for 50-60M to add to their already complete team. Inter have been making signings. The only other big club who aren't really signing anyone is Real Madrid and that's mainly because their squad is already full and they spent £300M last summer. Most clubs who needed to reinforce have.

That doesn’t really paint the whole picture... He only played 988 minutes in the league last year, Tammy Abraham was Chelsea’s main striker. So in essentially 11 games in the league he scored 8 goals... he also had no consistent game time.

He’s not going to be a huge difference maker for us but he’s a very useful striker, particularly as a cost effective back up who will sit on the bench when needed. He’s a very good hold up player and will occupy defenders. Very underrated player who does a lot of hidden work for his teams.

Everything pirlo has said suggests that he aint looking for a backup he wants to guy to start, giroud couldnt even get a game for that rubbish chelsea side last year and was benched for some kid from the championship and this club thinks he should get game time here.

Giroud, Suarez, Cavani, Dzeko, these are all oldies with high wages and a lot of drama. Why can’t we just bring Kean back, or take a chance on a primavera striker and save that money for a good midfielder?

You say ‘everything pirlo has said’ but what has pirlo actually said about a new CF? Because I’ve watched all of his interviews and I’ve not heard him say anything like that. Maybe you are confusing his words with media speculation.

The fact he struggled to get a game is because Lampard has opted to focus on youth and favoured a young English prospect who scored for fun in the championship (when lamps was in that league as well).

If he comes he’s a back up. And if he starts some games he’s a capable player and will do a much better job than Higuain did last year
