The fact that we sold Caldara while extending Barzagli’s contract for another year perfectly demonstrates why Italian football is such a joke and stuck in mediocrity.

One thing has nothing to do with the other. Barzagli would extend if Caldara stayed, Caldara would've been sold no matter what.
