proper midfielders cost a lot more, so we're keeping him.
You know, the management probably factored that in when they went for bonucci...why spend 150m and huge salary on a playmaker like SMS or Pogba when you can get an experienced player who knows the surroundings for much much cheaper

I agree with your initial point of the post: people are spoilt and should be ashamed. We sign Ronaldo and they still bitchh and moan. I dont like losing Caldara either but i really like signing Cr7 so yes, its a sacrifice ill gladly take. Higuain is to expensive to be kept, plain and simple.

However on the bolded part: we absolutely could use another creative mid. Expecting only Pjanic and Bonucci to create and orchestrate play troughout the whole season is naive to me and definitely a weakness.

Kovacic wants out, i really wish we would go for him. Delicate player with fantastic passing and eye for a killer pass.

:disagree:

Hoewedes 30 - Bonucci 31 swap or Hoewedes 30 - Caldera 24 - Bonucci 31 more likely. So difference is 1 year. :numnum:

So we got Bonucci for Caldara and Higuain is sold - Does it seal our mercato or will there be any other purchase (sales we would probably loan Pjaca to Fiorentina)

I hope we sell him regardless of us getting a proper midfielder..

I hate to see Caldara go but I think people are overreacting. I would be willing to bet that in 3 years our defence is still way better than theirs. As soon as one of our defenders has a bad year he will be replaced the following summer with an out of contract 31 year old who is still great. Thuram, Benatia and Barzagli joined at 29, Cannavaro at 31.
I don't think Chiellini would have been given the chance to develop here if it wasn't for Calciopoli. Bonucci joined in 2010 when established players wouldn't touch us with a 10 foot stick. We rarely give players time to develop anymore. It kind of sucks because prospects are exciting and it's fun to see them develop over time. We want immediate success, and with defence it seems, we tend to play it safe.
