lol Marcos Alonso is definitely a better defender than Sandro. For example, he would have defended that Real Madrid late goal much better than Sandro.

Yes I actually watch him play. That's why I suggested him. I gotta ask you the question because Alonso did play LB, LWB and LCB under Conte. You suggesting freaking Emerson benching him is laughable tbh.
Okay that's just ridiculous.

Don't remember Alonso playing any other position than LWB/LM under Conte, if he has I'm sure it has been a really short uninspiring experience. Alonso is a good player when you task him with very specific things. Getting in to the box for goalscoring threat, taking free-kicks and so on. As an actual left-back he is average and you can come back to me when he gets benched by Sarri next season.

Don't understand the point of another veteran in Godin. We have two of them who are elite, Chellini and Benatia. And behind them we have two younger guys in Rugani and Caldara who'll step in sooner or later. Benatia for example was our best defender last year while Chellini is captain and one of the best in the world. Godin here wouldn't make any sense.

Godin is arguably best in the world at his position. We are going for the CL next year, immediately. If he declines in 2 years, it's not that important to us. The time is now.

Exactly. If there is a chance to get Godin for 20/25 Mil for 3 years contract, you do it without hesitating.
Godin(IMO top3 CB in the world currently) is a better CB than Benatia (who i like) for sure.
Rugani will be sold.
So Chiello-Godin will start with Caldara & Benatia as back up.
Barza 5th man on defence in his retirement season.

we're going to 3-5-2

godin-chiellini-benatia

cancelo pjanic can matuidi costa

dybala-cr7
I really doubt that and hope not.
With Chiello & Godin back there you don't anymore CB's.

4-3-3/4-2-3-1 it's the way to go.
Attack mode.

What's the point in selling Rugano and then splashing 50% of the fee on a 32 yo. That's just bad business.
we have Caldara incoming, who i expect to start by 2020/21, and next year when Barza retires (or sometime in the future) Romagna is coming in as well. cant have too many youngsters in defense i guess, they want playing time and we cant give it to 2-3 of them

What are you talking about? You're just making stuff up. The only competition Rugani didn't play much in was CL. Max opted for experience there.

Rugani played 2nd most minutes in Serie A of all our CBs. Only behind Chiellini.

Chiellini: 2162
Rugani: 1935
Benatia: 1754
Barzagli: 1434

Shaky? While he did have his shaky moments, like every other defender on the planet, our record of 20 wins - 4 draws - 1 loss in all competitions with Rugani starting shows he was nowhere near as shaky as some of you are making him out to have been. And in those 25 matches include starts against Roma, Inter, Lazio, Milan, Torino away (conceded only twice in those 5 matches).

In last two seasons, Rugani was on the same level as Benatia, Chiellini of 2017-18, and Bonucci of 2016-17.

Only Chiellini of 2016-17 was a level above.

Unless we can sign Godin (very unlikely acc to a knowledgeable Atleti supporter in another forum), I'd start Rugani and sell Benatia.

But Rugani is not even on the same level as Godin.
Godin is ready RIGHT NOW to be together with Chiello the best CB pair in Europe.
So yes,you 'll have those 25/30 M,add few more(20?) mil and go after De ligt if we really want to get a young CB for the future together with our own Caldara.

Im not making stuff up, Benatia beat him in the pecking order fight and he ended up having less mins in all competitions than Barza, those are facts, you bringing up other facts wont change that :D And Rugani did look shaky end of season after being on the bench for a while, I remember a particularly dreadful game against Benevento I think.

It is normal that a young defender would nt be able to deliver at a delicate time for our Scudetto chances after being benched a lot in the 2nd half of the season, but at Juve we shouldnt be looking for normal starters, we need extraordinary ones
You did make stuff up. Barza beat him in minutes because he played as RB with some degree of frequency. As a CB, it wasn't particularly close. Rugani played substantially more minutes than both Benatia and Barza in Serie A. He played the full 90 minutes in 11 of our last 14 serie A matches, locked in a scudetto fight with Napoli. 7 of our last 8 matches, full 90, even after we were knocked out of CL. Still starting almost every Serie A match. Coincidentally, the only loss we took in those last 8 was the match he didn't start against Napoli.

And you remember one shaky game? Wow.

And again. We lost 1 match of 25 with Rugani starting. Against Roma, Inter, Milan, Lazio, Torino away from home, we went 4 wins - 1 draw with 2 goals conceded, and 4 clean sheets. With Rugani playing the full 90.

Super shaky, bro. He must be terrible. He didn't deliver at all. That's why we lost the scudetto in the end. :baus:
