If we made a story by wanting to get Spinazzola back it wasn't because we wanted him to be AS backup. Probably was for the RB position so should we stop there?

    I wish.

or a CB that can play there Barza style like Höwedes.

well almost all of our transfers seem to have a huge question mark hanging over them:
D.Costa - should we really pay that kind of money for Bayern reserves with not so great numbers? I'd have been fully supportive if he was an opportunity signing, but 47m is a lot. they signed him for 30m two years ago and I don't think he improved his stock since then
Berna - I got nothing, I love the guy
Matuidi - will he bench Khedira or will he only be useful in 3 man midfield?
Szczesny - probably best backup goalie in the world, but is this guy really our Buffon replacement?
Bentancur - always good to invest in exciting youth, again I got nothing :D
MDS - very underwhelming as Alves replacement

overall it's not tragic, but considering Bonucci and D.Alves departing and considering Buffon, Barzagli, Licht are gone as well next year, the direction we're taking is worrying
If you look at numbers, and think of Costa as a Bayern reject, I can understand your doubt. I've been incredibly impressed watching him at times, I think the guy has a ton of talent, pace, versatility -- and initially things at Bayern were great (production wise). He had some injury issues, some issues with the coach, and I think we're getting a very good player. As for his price, you may think that it's high, but the market is ridiculous right now. I think it's incredibly important to point out that it's a loan with option -- it's not an obligation to buy the player. That really removes a lot of the risk from this transaction for me. If he's not worth it, Beppe will have extra funds to play with next summer.

Matuidi adds some important characteristics -- grit, pace, workmate -- and he's a very high character, high IQ player. Max will love him. We'll have to wait to see how the 2 man midfield question plays out. I have my doubts on that, but it's early and we have to see if Max can tinker with things a little. We need a big addition to the midfield next summer, hopefully they're looking at all options.

Szczesny was seen by many as one of the top 3 keepers in the league last year. At 14M, I don't really see a lot of risk in that purchase, I think it was a smart move to plan for the future now. Can always do more in the future to secure the position, but he's basically entering his prime years, and seems to have matured a lot since his time at Arsenal. Training alongside Buffon -- the best to ever put the gloves on -- can only help from a training/prep standpoint.

De Scapegoatlia -- we'll just have to wait and see. They obviously purchased him because Max knows what he's getting in the person. He has versatility, he's been playing for the national team (nationalistic slant), so at 12M I understand the move, even if he's really struggled in recent years. I think it's a pretty low risk to bring him in to compete -- I just feel we need to make sure he's got a legitimate stud to compete with at RB... and as much as I love Steph, he's lost a couple steps.

I'm not worried, buddy. I like the Rugani - Caldara partnership, Kean looks promising, lots of good young attackers. Sandro is in his prime, Spinazzola is coming eventually... we need another quality CM and RB. But to me, things are looking pretty solid.

Spending more than 3 times our average transfer budget on 29-year-old players who have made close to 0 impact in the CL in their entire career? We should have kept Secco then.
The purchase was a calculated one, and was based upon how complete the squad was otherwise. It was not just made for the Champions League. Management BADLY wanted that 6th consecutive title, and that place all alone in the all-time record books. The buy directly weakened Juve's top rival. While the money was more than anybody here would have liked, Higuain has still only been here one season -- and it was a pretty good season. Why not support the player instead of incessantly moaning in every thread about this? I just don't get it.

Secco and company drove our fucking club into the ground. Marotta and Paratici have brought Juventus glory, and returned the club to its rightful spot amongst Europes elite. Stop with the cherry picked drivel, you've gotta be smarter than that.

1 We bought Higuain last summer.

2 We just bought Matuidi for Swansea midfield price, We bought Matuidi and Berna for 2 Swansea mids.

    Caldara will replace Barzagli

Buffon is the only big major question really. Who will we replace him with.

Big money also means good profit with sales, we might sell Dybala for 120-150.
This is fucking BS. Why sell at all? If we want to be a mid-tier European club, then so be it. However, the elite don't fucking sell their best players (in some cases, even if they fucking ask to leave). If the only way to compete and stay at the top is through mergers/acquisitions, then I'm all for having a Chinese or Arab owner.

I want to see my team win the biggest trophies, not generate profits and be rendered a footnote in the annals of history.

Is it really an option? I hope it is, if so Im fully behind the transfer. I remember we thought that Motta was also an option, yet we exercised it and never played him again.

    Pitbull without any teeth. :D
do you also think that replacing Buffon with a Polish NT 2nd keeper, that both Arsenal and Roma upgraded on, is a good idea? I get it that we won't get a second Buffon because there's only one, but all these years we've searched for the next Buffon - Mirante, Vanstrattan, Kirev, Pinsoglio, Leali, Branescu, Neto and million other names I can't recall, yet all this giant mission that lasted for almost a decade will amount to will be Sczcesny? Im a bit underwhelmed, aren't you?

    Yup, it's an option.

As for the GK situation, it's always going to be underwhelming when the reference point is the best goalkeeper in the history of world football. We're all going to be underwhelmed a bit. Gigi is going to be a massive loss, regardless of who else the club brings in.

Give Sczcesny a chance, though. He really did have a great season last year.

I hope that's a bad joke. We don't need more offensive alternatives; Pjaca, Dybala, Mandzukic, Berna, Cuadrado, Costa and Pipita competing for 3-4 spots. I know we love buying depth but come on... The only reason I can see getting Sissoko (which I still don't approve of) is to get someone sembling Mandzukic and let the two rotate.
