i dont know about that. we had 4 players that made other teams press our backline almost impossible in Pjanic, Bonucci, AS and Alves, and now we lost half of them. Kovacic next to Pjanic would help solve that, but with the current team ( no new players) i have no idea what to do other than hope Marchisio returns to his best.

Yes on speed and athleticism he is better but de vrij reading of the game and passing is better

Zero sense in Zidane selling his fav when already weakened their depth. And as much as I rate him, zero sense in us paying 70m for him and changing a formation we already made big upgrades for.

For 20m I would also choose De Vrij.
But I think Marotta won't spend that much and prefer Garay with Loan (+Option)
