They were willing to pay what? Up to €75m for him?

They clearly hoped for something better than what they've hot.

Javi is a CB these days and selling Sanches is leaving them with Vidal as only physical CM.
They probably hoped he would make a more immediate impact but he is still a great propect. I doubt they will him definitely (maybe with a buy-back option).

But if they bring in a 22 year old Tolisso they could just as well keep Sanches if they truely believe in him.
Xabi isn't getting younger too.

I think it's Carlo who doesn't rate him.

I don't mind nzonzi, we need someone tall as a tree in that midfield and physically strong. I just don't like the price. His price has increased since last year and yet his talent is more or less the same as the season before. At this point, we need the player to help us lower it.

Thinking out loud and letting the final debacle slide for a while. I do reiterate we don't need that much.
We have a great starting 11, even if unorthodox (with Alves as right midfielder and Mandzukic on the left etc). But to me that makes Allegri's 11 charming and made us hard to play most of the times.

An 11 in all fairness, that cruised through the knockout stages of the CL. Not a small feat.

Buffon
Barzagli Bonucci Chiellini Sandro
Alves Khedira Pjanic Mandzukic
Dybala
Higuain

Now it fell apart in the final, for whatever reason. But it's obvious there's no backup plan or anyway to correct things going wrong because of a lack of alternatives.

If we were to build a second team in the same formation we would fall short.

Neto
Lichtsteiner Benatia Rugani Asamoah
Cuadrado Marchisio ?????? ?????
?????
????

Of course there's Sturaro et al, but i'm talking about valid alternatives. Like for like, or players that can even change a game(Cuadrado).

Laying it out like this, it's clear that our biggest problem is the the subs.

Although for me Dybala was also a bit disappointing this season. Some great matches, but a lot of underwhelming games as well. He looked lost often and as a result Higauin becomes isolated. I think we need some player to act as foil or take control, so Dybala can remain more in the final third of the pitch close to Higauin.

My source says Juve have 80 million for this Mercato and they expect another 30 from small sales.

There are good offers for Asamoah and Lemina from England. But Juve in no hurry to sell.

€90M Higuaín
€40M Dybala
€21M Mandzukic
€25M Schick
€28M Cuadrado
€25M Pjaca

€230M spent on attacking players in the last two seasons and potentially more.

40 million for N'Zonzi is madness
