Tbh, imo this year Pjanic makes a strong case for the best midfielder. He is not as dynamic as Luca, but this is the only major characteristic Pjanic clearly worse at.
Pjanic - Veratti is sexy as shit, but not physical enough.

Verratti is better tackler and aggressive ball winner then both our CMs.

He isn't a demi God, but he is significantly better still, it must be because he doesn't make direct assists that it's harder for average fans to notice, but he bosses games with such ease that I'm not sure it's in Pjanic mindset to even attempt.

He bosses the game indeed, but he also has Casemiro to cover for him on the defensive side. He is the engine of Mardid team, while Pjanic is more a dispatcher, relay and very-very solid defensively this far without any cover.
