I'm not talking about Monaco specifically obviously, but players like Lamela, Belfodil, Afellay, Marin... just some random names, prices differ but basically these are players who were "worth" lots of money before flopping hard.
You're right about Marin & Afellay at least, but Mbappe has shown far more than any of them. Bar injury, it's hard to see this guy not becoming a worldbeater.

True, but it's Mbappe's first season, we can't really tell where he will be in 4-5-10 years... there aren't many players that become WC.. and strikers are even harder to come by.
And even if he will become WC, he will never get close to CR7 or Messi (as many people think).

Considering the fact there were only two in the last 50 years or so, I'm pretty optimistic about my prediction.
We are talking about consistently scoring 40+ goals for 10 years dude... and it already looks like CR7 is very close to becoming the best player ever.

not that insane if you consider the opposition, take a look at this table for example, only one side in La Liga 88 year history has scored the same amount of goals that RM and Barca score regularly during Ronaldo and Messi years. speaks volumes about how superior these two sides are over bottom clubs, besides nowadays there are more games. they are beasts and probably the best players I've seen watching footie for the last 15 years or so, but to me they're not that superior to other players I've seen, let alone those I haven't seen.

Yeah well Ronaldo scored more CL goals than Atletico so....
Also scored 2 consecutive hat tricks in CL knockout so what are you talking about? the league is garbage but is the EPL better? fact is, in the last couple of years we only see spanish teams in all european competitions.

I'm not saying the league is garbage, I'm saying the total goals these teams score is considerably higher than in other periods in history, therefore Ronaldo's and Messi's great goal scoring and assisting numbers shouldn't be compared to di Stefano for example (guy still had 216 goals in 182 apps lol), because he played a lot less games and his team scored a lot less goals than Real Madrid in 2017. Of course they have been the most consistent and effective players of their generation, but that doesn't mean they're the start and the end of football and there will never be anything like them again.

Monaco rejects 85 mln euro from Manchester United for Mbappe and wants 130 mln. Clearly above our reach is young frenchman.
I dont think anyone considered him as a possibility..
P.S 130M I dont think we should spend that much on one player even if we have this kind of money...
The only players we should spend 80M on are
1. Verratti
2. Neymar
Any other player must be below that sum as no one is 100M good (except for Messi who will definitely remain at Barca for the rest of his career)

It's very simple really...

Look at their national side stats that are so underwhelming and in stark contrast with their club sides stats.

Conclusion : real and barca has been stats padding them a lot.

71 goals in 138 games for Ronaldo is not bad at all.. plus him and Messi score a shitload in CL... but it is true that we lots of 6-0 and such in LaLiga.
But still, Don't try to humanize those two, I don't think we'll be seeing players like them for at least two decades.

@Mark the race for the Atalanta teenage Youths, Inter got Bastoni the CB, we should get Melegoni the CM before they do. He is great in FM lol.

What was the name of that loaned out CM we wanted to sign from them? Castellano?

Ronaldo is an amazing scorer but I dont think he is the best player in the world nor even 2nd or 3rd..
Messi is a monster as he is probably all time best player.. His pass to Iniesta in the 1st game was absolutely brilliant and the things he does are amazing!

IMO the top 5 are Messi Neymar Suarez Zlatan Bale (not by ranking)
Zlatan is very underrated in the world despite everyone know him already - he can do it all and IMO he is better than C.Ronaldo
Suarez when concentrating on football instead of chewing is also a monster
Bale has proved himself carrying Wales in every competition on his back - He does great for Real as well (when not injured...)
Neymar is the youngest of them all and has amazing dribbling skills and movement
Messi is the M.Jordan of footballers he is simply the best in everything - his only downside is that he is short and therefore is easier to handle in the air than others

P.S I believe we had a player in that list 2 years ago and his name is Tevez - he gave us a season which he performed as good as Suarez is performing..

Dybala is on his way there but isnt there yet...

Or wait til they fail to realize his potential and sell him to Genoa.

I still laugh when I think of Bonucci being their youth player and they chose ze Frog Ranocchia over him...

There is no reason to splash big on a single player this offseason IMO. We have no need for it but could definately revamp a few positions. If a big player is movable like Veratti then go for it but no need overpaying like we did for Higuain this summer. Priority is to keep the core of the team and fix a few depth issues and be opportunistic like we have been so good at

    Couldn't see it being that much more expensive than Schick (25)+Tolisso (40) +De Sciglio (10) +James (60)
Fabinho+Lemar won't cost that much more than 75MM....

Mbappe could cost 80, but the other two will be less expensive for sure because of a) their positions b) lower relative hype

Fabinho can also play RB, which is a great asset considering our aging RB position.
James is much better than Lemar. Plus he is an idol in colombia and has a international image which will improve our image as a club.
