So what is really strange is that the Koop and Nico deals were stalled because we needed to wait for their replacements, if you believe what press reports were saying given that the figures were already agreed upon.

Atalanta signed Samardzic and Fiorentina signed Gudmudssen. Still no deal. What gives?

I can only suspect that the fact that Atalanta are also keen on Nico (even more so that now Lookman wants to go to PSG) and Kululu…is in some way putting off the deal.

Also, everyone said that Atalanta do not need to sell. But they haven’t sold anyone so far and bought a right back, Retegui, Breciannini and Samardzic. They still earn less revenue than us and they do need to sell especially if they also want to get Nico. Perhaps the money from Lookman is enough?
I'll give it 'till tomorrow, post match day. Then I'll start panicking if nothing happens :p

atalanta have made 150m in the last 4 years off just selling romero, kulusevski, malinovksy, gosens and zapata. they have money to hold on to their best players
No, they don't. Their three best players in Koop, Lookman and Ederson earn 1.5, 1.8 and 2mln euro respectively. All of them get offers which triple their current salary. Atalanta either have to match these offers or sell the players. Obviously they won't match them because automatically they would have to increase the salaries of all remaining players which is not sustainable.
Playing a big boy will turn on them soon.

Pierre Kalulu's future, barring any major surprises, will not be at Juventus. As he has not received any assurance about having permanent position in the starting lineup and that Juve will permanently sign him.(Cds)

As I have said many times, revolutionising a squad in one transfer window is extremely difficult. If comes as no surprise to me that players like McKennie, Milik and now Kostic are now part of the project with a few more to come no doubt.

While I respect Motta for being “transparent “, it shows the wide mercato too much.

Somehow everybody knows Koopmeiners is our number 1 target with no plan B. Everyone knows we will get rid of Chiesa. The biggest error was that if we kept Soule for longer, we would have more options right now.

I think we have put ourselves in a corner now.
I went from being quite optimistic to now pessimistic. We couldn’t close Todibo, now Kululu and still can’t close Koop and Nico despite both clubs finding substitutes.

To be fair, I can’t fault club on this one. We are in no position to give guarantees to any player let alone one who came off such an injury prone season.

More options in our own team, much less for buying... His plusvalenza will literally pay for more than Koopmeiners' 2024 fee.

I get McKennie and Milik but Kostic really has no place at all in this team...

We are in this final short window of doing sensational transfers, except this inept club won't be doing anything amazing. This happens when you take a binman out of a Neoplitan junkyard, the guy got lucky at Napoli when signing talents that required no real negotiations. Now we see Guintoli's skills are garbage and he's yet another fraud that this club has managed to find. I just pray that Motta is the real deal.

Are there any free agents that could save our extremely thin squad?

I mentionned Memphis Depay before, you know him well as Dutch, attitude or salary issue maybe, but he is a quality attacker that can play both wings and as a CF when Vlahovic is injured or off form. Would suit Motta style I think. Possibly play the Zirkzee role well.

We lowering our salary by alot this summer so maybe it's not feasible target. But it's end of August and he still doesn't have a club so why not.
