Milan want more money than the 3mln€ loan + option to buy at 13mln€. They would also prefer an obligation to buy.

@romeoagresti
Our hands are tied since making a mess of the Tolibo transfer.

Id prefer to not buy from a direct rival and to invest the money elsewhere.

he is mainly RB and Fonseca wants offensive fullbacks, prefers Emerson which they just signed. That seems to be the main reason.
But why we would need RB? i thought we need LCB?

Main reason is the emergence of Thiaw (who was already pushing out Kalulu minutes just before big injuries). And now signing Pavlovic, plus Tomori who Kalulu used to start with in 4 man defence.

It's not Pioli anymore, so who knows how a new coach sees of his players main positions. But Kalulu was majority of the time CB in 4 man defence with Tomori, or shortly after Thiaw signing right CB in 3 man defense line with him, Thiaw and Tomori. When Pioli changed back to 4 man defence at times Kalulu was used as RB (or bench) due to his versatility and Thiaw being so good.

Even if he is good on the ball and athletic, bit short for CB, he is mainly a defender and most current managers won't use a purely defensive fullback as starters (except France NT, Arsenal, Man City or us if we using inverted fullbacks like those). He will be moved around, but he makes most sense as CB for most of his minutes. As was case in Milan.

We are lacking a starting CB right now, and if Juve targeting him as budget market opportunity time sitaution, it will he mainly for the CB role. Tho it won't hurt to have tactical versatility to fill in both fullback positions, he is similar to Danilo tactically.

So you’re telling me if we signed Todobo we wouldn’t have signed a Gonzalez type player? That’s worse.

They just scrambling out of pure desperation for defense.

If we sign this scrub then our mercato will have completely unravelled.

He has a question mark with fitness and confidence. We are desperate for a ball playing centre back if we are to play this style but instead we are buying square pegs to play multiple roles but do neither so we are unlikely to be spared from the ignominy of watching Danilo, Gatti and Bremer pass it amongst themselves until one of them launches an inaccurate long diagonal into touch.

Would you guys take Sterling on a loan deal with option to buy? And I guess Chelsea to pay part of the salary?
His salary will be insane. He disappears a lot but when he shows up, he can be excellent. Like Vlahovic, he misses a lot of chances though.

Ansu Fati is not in the plans of Barcelona.

He is expected to leave the club. ❌

Would be great but I can imagine EPL teams lining up for him and maybe PSG too.

At this stage he is a gamble i could get behind in terms of a loan plus option/obligation formula but he is once again someone that is injury prone and didn’t really impress much at Brighton last season either, don’t think there’s too many top clubs considering him, but given his quality and age he might sure be worth a try, especially seeing the lack of alternatives.

Kalulu had a great season before last. The injuries from last season are an issue though.

Yeah I fully get the injury scare and the long lay off and it's effects being a gamble. And that it's a drop of in ambition from the 30-40m CB targets like Todibo or Calafiori we were rumoured with initially.

But I'm confused why the collective reaction is the players actual individual level when he was not injured is average or no bueno?

It's not some obscure player, but a quality young Milan starter in their best period of past decade with the scudetto and 2nd place finish. He played against us plenty, or we seen him have fantastic games vs likes of Osimhen or other quality strikers in the league. Was earmarked for France NT call up etc (a Kounde type role).

The circumstances has reg flags both in scope of downgrade in terms of ambition for CB investment and possible risky effect and gamble of post injury ( tho it was 1 season of injury not a history of several seasons). But if we actually get the player in bargain package and he is healthy, he is potentially a good defender.

On paper and on the field we are weaker than last season. Even if I was on drugs we would be weaker than last year.
If we able to sign Nico Gonzalez and Koop we could be considered stronger.

We exclude most of the players that some of us also asked for upgrade with the goal of sutainable team :
Tek -> Di Gregorio
Sandro -> Cabal
Rugani -> Djalo / New CB
De Sciglio -> Savona / Rouhi
Nicolussi Caviglia -> Kephren Thuram
McKennie -> D. Luiz
Pogba -> Koop
Kostic -> Nico Gonzalez
Chiesa -> Chiesa / New LW
Kean -> Adzic

Yes, our results in pre season is not good but we play with a new formation and system. But so far we upgrade it
So we just need to sign Gonzalez and Koop. Able to negotiate extension with Chiesa or sell. Sign a new CB or keep Djalo.
We need to do more in terms of departure but so far Giuntoli not waiting all the departure list to go first than buy, but he moved first to create a competitive team

We aren't rumoured to him so not sure why you posting. But even if he is still young and a big talent. He is genuinely a cautionary tale of legit injury proness and the direct and physical effects its impact on his football. More then anyone else in top football right now. It has been going on for 3 years now.

It's a shame, because he really was looking like a big time talent that could become a high end player pre huge career altering injuries.

Defenitely stay away imo and only consider if he has a full healthy season again where he doesn't look scared to be tackled anymore.

Nope, not what I'm saying. But maybe we would've prioritised someone on loan like Conceicao?
Gonzalez is a loan/obligation too. And Conceicao rumors died a long time ago. We were linked with Adeyami and Galeno who would cost about the same.
I appreciate the optimism but I just don’t see the plan here.

No they didn't. The Adeyemi links are gone, not the Conceicao ones. They're very much alive.

Loan + obligation for Gonzalez, just like for Todibo while it's a simple loan + option being mentioned for Conceicao.

It's just frustrating because we had all summer to find a solution yet we dropped the ball twice ( Calafiori / Tolibo)

We have now left ourselves in a position where we have to take a gamble on a potentially injury prone player and that is something we all knew at the start of the window that we could not afford to do.

We all had hope that we had learnt from our past mistakes but...

Here we are one week before the window closes, our pants are down and our hands are tied behind our back.
