Realistically speaking, going from 3rd place to firsr you always need to add a couple of starters. The gap between us and inter was huge last season.

Only starters we have signed are MDG, Luiz and Thuram. GK wasn’t the problem though and Thuram probably needs time adjusting to Italian football. So far our only direct replacements are Woj = MDG, Miretti = Luiz and Rabiot = Thuram. It’s a step in the right direction with one very big improvement but the other two’s are less impactful. it’ll be never enough for scudetto contenders

We can't forget Thiago Motta and also added Fagioli in comparison to last season. Since Alex Sandro was a starter, we must probably name Cabal too... But we have lost more than a few players if we count the outcasts. So I must agree with @4ndr3i here. We'd be worse off if the mercato ended now. Our attack is non-existent and we can't put too much weight on Yildiz' shoulder just yet. Much work to be done!

I get the wish of fans to have the team full by the first game but it ain't abnormal for us with the amount of sales we have to make to not be ready by then... The season is long and after 3 games there's an international break... If we'll be done with our homework by then, we can't complain. But I've read reports we'll try again for Koop in January if we fail now. THAT would be a huge reason to complain.

PS: Milik is probably staying as the backup striker.
But so far we haven’t seen a huge amount of sales or signings…. Same goes for the winter mercato if you sign a player on the 31st of January he hardly hits form until mid March. It’s a stupid thing to leave it this late especially if you try to overhaul the system and squad.

We will look totally disorganized if we sign another 3-4 starters. Not that we’d look any better without them. It’s just poor management and I think if we might end up not qualifying for the cl. Our defense is horrendous

People actually rating Hummels is pretty shocking. The guy is done and we’d be better off bringing back Bonucci from retirement- and I mean it

I'll try to make sense here.

I think we'll get used to the squad being thinner than usual. In Bologna, Motta has 28 players, but he only plays around with 17-18 players. I add a pic below. You can see that out of 38 matches, 17-18 players played most of it.

Now Juventus is different from Bologna. This season, we'll have 50+ matches to play, with little time between matches. So what is in Motta's mind? In his first press conf, he said we'd have a squad with 23-24 starters.

So, assuming that he didn't lie, then we'll need only 4 more signings to complete the squad. 1 AMC, 1 RW, 1 CD, 1 start/sub LW. Hopefully next week we will close the first two with Koop and Nico. The other two can wait when we try to offload some more.

I don't comment on whether this approach is good or not. Just try to guess the situation. I remember Jose Mourinho said that, for him, a 23-players squad is optimize, but never seen a club really build like that.

Chiesa is the only one rejected player who's still training with us. Wonder does that mean we're still negotiating with him?
It’s the only way he should stay imo. If you take him back without a renewal he can just play out his contract and leave for free. Either renew, find a new club, or sit in the stands for a year. Nobody wants the third option so figure it out.

Trevor Chalobah? Chalobah kinda plays midfielder sometimes, Chelsea fans are unhappy he is being shopped while new players are bought instead - must be a good sign.

We've seen a normal amount of transactions in or out. Problem is we need to / decided to make an abnormal amount of moves. But this makes it completely understandable to work until late in August seeing as we need to sell before buying too.

The season lasts about 10 months... Having 2-3 players for 2-3 weeks extra doesn't make much of a difference in the long run.

Our defence is about the same as last year and we qualified. Problem lies in attack if you ask me. We need at least 3 new players there (Koop as an AM and Gonzalez included) if we don't reinstate some players.

Always difficult to determine what a 'starter' is. We'll be playing in 5 competitions so rotation will be the norm imo.

Right now I feel our team is actually worse than at the start of last year.

We’re paper thin with all the exclusions plus the lack of transfers as of late.
Completely agree bro. And for saying this and delivering the facts I was attacked here and mods stood and watched as people insulted me.

You can't say the truth in this place any more.

The truth hurts, but delusion obviously hurts even more.

At the moment, Giuntoli has Clément Lenglet at the top of his list for the defence, the player has already been sounded out by Juventus in recent months only to be put on standby. The sporting director could now make a move after missing out on Todibo. (@Gazzetta_it)

Lacroix might be an interesting one. Haven't seen him in a while. Interesting talent few years ago.
If we want him we better move quick, I think Crystal Palace are eying him up to replace Guehi

Jesus christ... Lenglet...

Seriously stop. We'll just stick with what we have now instead.

Chelsea fans are unhappy with Chalobah being pushed out because he's a home grown player, they're already pissed about the sale of Connor Gallagher for the same reason, despite Gallagher's technical limitations, but because he works hard and is a home grown player, Chelsea fans are outraged at his sale, despite what I think was for a fairly substantial amount for someone with a year left on his contract.

Hermoso had been offered to Juventus but the player has a very high salary request and so Juve are not convinced. Hummels was also offered but Juve are not convinced on the player. The Bianconeri could sign a defender on loan with an option to buy in the last 10 days of the mercato. @NicoSchira / YT.
