Are we being too arrogant here? If we've transfer listed everyone and have excluded them, there's a chance that we won't sell them all so why not try some out? Kostic for example was pretty decent as an attacking winger and was top assist guy 2 seasons ago, but regressed because he was forced to become a LB under Allegri. Surely he's worth keeping as a backup given his versatility no?

I don't know if it's Motta or Guintoli, but this behaviour works for teams like Man Utd because they have unlimited funds, it can't work here because we're poor.

Given that all I'm seeing is a 4-3-3 so far with Yildiz and Weah, I'm very concerned because at least last season we had Iling Jr and Chiesa in the mix. We're one Yildiz injury away from disaster.

Kostic is a limited player, he's definitely not a Motta type player.

If Motta is a decent coach, he'll be able to train Kostic and find his best role. Motta improved a mediocre Bologna squad massively, he is supposed to help us build on a budget while we recover financially. Unfortunately, we're pushing for Gonzalez instead of a younger and cheaper Guðmundsson that he could develop. I had high hopes for Iling Jr, Enzo, and Soulé, I was excited for Nonge too but I feel like Motta is a Conte type who's going to buy expensive players and sideline talented youngsters. Right now the squad looks like shit and we're still playing like shit.

Two things. Gundmundsson is older then Gonzalez, by a year, doesnt matter, but a fact. Secondly, Gundmundsson played as CF in 2 man attack for Genoa (he is versatile FW/SS/AM type, but mainly attacker), Nicho Gonzalez full on winger, on the right. So they not even same position, but still Gonzalez outscored him/was generally more effective player. Its why Juve and Atalanta going for Nico, and Gudmundsson is going for cheap to Viola to replace Nico (new fiorentina coach Palladino doesnt use wingers, but 3-5-2 formation, like Genoa did).

To summarize: Gudmundsson is not a right winger. He is not younger then Gonalzez, and he didnt play better than him past 2 seasons, despite more attacking role.

Gudmundsson would be alright cheap backup for AM/FW role (he overlaps alot with Yildiz a bit, tho Yildiz more of a winger), but as starting right winger, which is not a position for him at all, even if he was good enough for it, which I have some doubts on he can, meaning starter in any role for Juve.

I'm still bitter about Calafiori.

If an Italian centre back would rather go to arsenal than come and start for Juve, a team (i think, right?) he supported as a kid and join a coach he knows and works well with then football is more broken and even further from the game I grew up with than I realised.

Would rather go to Arsenal? We didnt bid enough, they did, its that simple. Bologna wanted 50m, Arsenal gave it to them. While look at what we doing with Nice and Todibo, we insisting on loan with no obligation according to rumour, so we really dont have the funds even for a delayed payment type loan deal for CB, let alone a full on direct signing.

But yeah the gulf in prestige and financials between EPL and Serie A is huge now, I dont know why people are suprised about it every summer.

P.S I am also hella annoyed we couldnt get Calafiori, he was my nr 1 player to sign this summer.

Yeah this is part of what I mean, that arsenal can so easily outbid us. That the lure of Juve wasn't enough to make him force them to sell to us. That's what used to happen, and this guy is an actual juventino and still didn't care enough to push hard for us.

Yeah, we have no wingers in the team, but fuck you Giuntoli for not bringing in that hot CB.
I'm not annoyed at him, it was more the realisation of what football really is these days. Where we and Italy are in the pecking order.

Why should he push to us when we deem him not affordable? He can say he wants Juve and work with Thiago Motta, and he undoubtedly did initially. That was all the talk for months before.

But then the ball come backs to us. We have to bid enough to entice Bologna (Reports said highest we went was half of what Arsenal paid). But we didn't because we didn't think it was a priority to sign him. It's not more complicated then that.

This is the new reality for half a decade now. We as fans need to get used to it. Financially and prestige wise we can't compete with EPL.

.
but there is funds to sign a 4th goalie before selling one of the ones on the team?

it seems we have different ideas of what no funds means.

Says who? Did he express his will to leave City? Also are we willing to pay him a serious amount per year?

In a normal world we wouldnt be selling Chiesa but the decision has been made. I personally dont like it and dont think selling a player on the cheap to get a more expensive but weaker player is such a good idea but I guess we dont know everything.
Koop is a good player because he will definitely help connecting our mid and attack (He isnt the only player capable of doing it of course but he is not such a bad idea - I just dont like his inflated valuation)
