Failegri beating his flaccid salami "meatstick" to more experience it seems.

The quicker we dispose of all the cancers, Failegri above all, eroding this once proud club, the quicker we can get back to winning ways and establishing a semblance of identity.

€40M on a 29 year old..

These are the kind of 'investments' JJ should avoid. Let the EPL or Saudi's have him.

It's wether he is good enough quality or not. And worth the investment based on our limited budget coupled with age factor.

But the age itself can never be only reason you dismiss someone. 29 is prime age for average player.

List of club icon players we signed at 29 or later:

Nedved
Thuram
Barzagli (30)
Tevez
Pirlo (31)
Mandzukic

Imagine if we dismissed them simply due to age?

we could have dismiss mandzukic and nobody would have noticed. there were 20 better strikers we could have gone for.

JJ cannot afford to make such investments at this point.

This is the financial reality of JJ. We don't even have financial power of mid table EPL clubs. Whether you like it or not, re-sale value is imperative for us to sustain ourselves as a club for the foreseeable future. I don't see our situation changing anytime soon.

If Goretzka was free or available for a very low sum, it would have been another altogether.

I get the reality is different now and agree with the above factors. Just making clear we shouldn't focus too narrowly about age alone or we will miss out impact players like above.

Resale value is more important now then before now that league and club incompetence put us step lower in the food chain. But also its key to gey players that can have impact immediately and mentally ready for pressure of big club now and then.

Doesn't necessarily have to be Göretzka.

New 16 year old taking over the old 18 year old.
It's encouraging that we seem to be more more actively pursuing these types of players. The more players we can produce through the next gen and our youth system will no doubt help influence these players and their families to want to be a part of it.
