Villa made the CL this season and Douglas Luiz is one of their key players, even if he can be a little inconsistent. He's a Brazil international as well. So it's standard that you'd pay a lot of money for him when he's coming to his prime years. I don't think we'd be able to afford him anyway.
Villa do have the 4th highest wage bill in the PL already and had a big outlay in the summer last year. Even with the CL, they could benefit from one of these trade deals to cook the books with a Soule and/or McKennie whilst also solving the issue of an expiring contract on a player who appears to no wish to renew.
May not be as far fetched as you think.

It's not far fetched as it's true they do probably need to sell someone due to PSR rules. I just don't see us being the ones to bug him. I'm not sure how PSR works but surely it is better for them that they sell for 60m rather than 30m+p/e?

And they have also Monchi as sporting director, one of the best cook in football and well versed in Italian way of cooking the books gastronomy

Giuntoli is working on securing two new midfielders for Motta, the total cost of which will be around €60/70M. In the mind of the director and the new coach is the idea of creating an instant team, i.e. reinforcing Juve with experienced players. (@_Morik92_ / @TUTTOJUVE_COM)

The first deal Giuntoli wants to complete is the renewal of Adrien Rabiot and in their latest meeting with the players mother-agent, he gave her Juventus proposal of a 2 year renewal at €7.5m salary and an option for Year 3. There is also a future captaincy included.Rabiot would like continue with Juventus and everything points to his renewal (@tuttosport)

I assume Bakayoko would be pretty expensive. No idea why we would sell Soule just to turn around and spend a lot on him, unless he has some sort of clause.

Bakayoko is Belgian and playing for a top team in a league known for selling its players at high prices. Whatever we'd end paying, you just know it'll be too much.

Rabiot must have inside info on Giuntoli.

I think it would be 2 separate deals. Like the Arthur / Pjanic deals. So Villa get 50/55 mil and we get 25/30 mill.

“There are footballers who can bring money that perhaps we don't see: I'll name one #Compagnon . There are many players, small names that come from NextGen with sustainable salaries that create the possibility of having a mini-treasure." (@romeoagresti via YouTube)
