Thus far, this Mercato has been a failure for me. We lost Pirlo, Vidal, and Tevez. We still haven't found an AM, and the season kicks off in just over 2 weeks (Super Coppa is in just over 10 days), the fitness of Barza is a concern, and we are still lacking in the LB department.

Khedira is no Vidal or Pirlo; he is a solid option, but let's see if he manages to stay fit. I don't really like or rate Mandzukic, and don't get me started on Zaza :howler:

Rugani and Dybala are the only two signings I am remotely excited by, and that is simply based on their potential.

I don't see how you can laugh at him by calling it a failure, yet refuse to do the same to those who constantly suck Marotta's dick even if he rapes their mother. Both are wrong.
It isn't a matter of right or wrong, but perception and difference of opinion.

I don't understand how anyone can label the Mercato, UP UNTIL THIS POINT, a success!!!

However, if people are so blindly optimistic, defiantly delusional, or incredibly obstinate depending on how you look at it, then so be it.

That is one way of looking at it and I respect your opinion.

I still think that joining Juventus, getting a first team place here and winning titles, getting to know a different culture/language plus building up your game is somehow more impressive than that ... but that is just my opinion.
Yeah that's all true but you forget that Germans usually prefer to play in their league just like Italians in Serie A or English in EPL.

Reus has a big salary which we can't improve and also a starting place at Dortmund. They'll be back in CL next year for sure.

Gotze plays a lot at Bayern, he's not a starter and played out of position but he also earns a lot and we can't give him more. He's there for trophies just like he'd be at Juventus (although they have better chances for CL than we do).

Draxler is a different matter but he plays for his boyhood club being a starter with #10 shirt. Schalke has a very good chance of coming back to CL too.

At the end of the day getting agreement with the player is always the easier part. Now try to convince those clubs they should sell. Just like we don't want to sell Pogba, BVB don't want to sell Reus and so on. Offer them ridiculous money and they'll sell - otherwise forget about it.

I "suck his dick" to bring balance to the disgusting amount of crap people spew on this forum about our club.

Anyway this is the same bullshit I've been reading on this forum about our transfer windows for the past 2-3 years, you think the detractors would learn their lesson by now.

I think people should sometimes take a look from the other side. Sure we're a top club coming off a fantastic season but it doesn't mean everyone will gladly join us. We're not Barca/Madrid level yet and even those teams can't have anyone they want.
One European semifinal and one final, total domination of home League, ranked in top 8 Euro teams: I think we are actually more attractive than we think.
Ah, and Turin is a good place for footballers, definitely the best in Italy, fans don't hassle you everytime you walk around town, quality of life is very high, one hour from the sea, half an hour from ski slopes ....

No one is spewing crap.

Vidal sold at lower than market value (considering how inflated the markets are)? Fact!

Losing Pirlo and Tevez, two key players for their contribution to the cause? Fact!

AM still needed? Fact!

Still stuck with Llorente? Fact!

Zaza for 18 million? Fact!

As things stand, the team is weaker. Of course, everything can change over the course of the next 4 weeks, but we shall see.

The mercato up to Vidal's sale was close to being perfect honestly.

Now things look very differently, but not beyond saving. And while I wouldn't call it a success, it's definitely not a failure either.

How? That is a hyperbolic statement. Close to perfection? Seriously? I would have called it a solid 6, maybe even a weak 7 out of 10, but close to perfection is exaggerating a bit.

Our actual depth is much better than last season. In goal we are stronger, in defence we are stronger, in midfield IMO we are the same level as last season (loss of past it Pirlo, and not yet 100% Vidal, compensated by signing of Khedira, and possible return to CM of Asamoah, plus emergence of Sturaro), upfront we have better overall depth in numbers (Zaza is better than Matri for example), but we are missing a 20+ goal a season striker. Mandzukic can be that, but he needs the right service. Dybala has a lot of talent and a lot of pressure will be placed on him this season, but I dont expect to see the best of him for a while.

Our MAIN loss is Tevez. Our (clearly) best player over the past two seasons, a true top player and striker that we had been missing for a long time. And again, you cannot blame Marotta for the sale of Tevez, as his situation was always touch and go the moment we signed him. It was either he leaves now, or we lose him for free a year later.

As for your other points. I agree that Vidal was sold cheaply. Llorente is still here but will almost definitely be sold. Zaza we overpaid for no doubt about it. And we will eventually sign an AM. Its still only July 28th. A lot of these things should be resolved.

He did say 'thus far', it's a fair opinion. It's not quite the same as being 1-0 down after 40 minutes and saying what a terrible result it is, but a few people are heading in that direction.

I suppose people get bored with no games on as a marker. We lose a friendly and it gets dumb.

Anyway, there is still plenty of time in the window, and we clearly have some money to spend.

Pirlo, unable to run faster than snail's pace? Fact!

Literally nothing management could do about Tevez? Fact!

Zaza for ~11m. Fact!
