If Draxler talks really are stalled or even terminated, then I see it as a bullet dodged as we were play russian roulette.

The need to fix this #10 situation is now fast becomeing an urgent matter for the club to resolve as the season looms closer.

Given the latest injury to Barzagli (he's sadly no longer a reliable player) I'd say the defensive situation has become just as important as finding a quality AMF.

Marotta was quoted 9 days ago as saying that the next 7/10 days were crucial to resolve the attacking side of our recruitment. I think we can see now that neither Götze or Draxler is coming to us and thus he has to quickly move on to quality alternatives.

If there is little or no progress made in the next 48 hrs for either a back 4 player or the #10 player, the campaign may be partially driven by thoughts of "strengthening" the squad with acquisitions that are not capable of adding strength to the squad at all.

Bad news for us if we go down, for example the Astori/Saponara route.

I'd say if there is a chance we can get Reus we should jump on it. I know it is almost impossible, but getting Reus would do wonder for Coman so it might turn out an even better move.

Reus - Morata - Dybala

Coman/Morata - Mandzukic/Zaza - Pereyra/Berardi

I'd say I rate Goetze and Reus as equally fantastic purchases. Actually they are imho the best we can go for!

How would our budget take a 40-55m + Llorente offer for Reus and 6-7m per year wages? :nico:

Reus? :sergio: We can't close Draxler with Schalke who wanted to do a deal yet we're supposed to take out Reus from BVB.

He's on really high wages and renewed a few months ago. They won't even want to hear our proposal.

Not all teams are willing to sell their best player for a cut price fee just because he wants to leave. Assuming Draxler wants to come to us, there is no way Schalke are getting low balled in that deal. They can convince/force him to stay until a better offer comes along, or hope that he regains form this season to ignite a bidding war in next summer's mercato.

Goetze, Reus and Draxler have one huge problem. There is at best place for two of them in the NT, but in reality more like 1. Now people should think about it for a while...

Zach is right that Goetze staying at Bayern is a huge risk for him, he is WC winner, but a substitute nonetheless. Reus can't make BVB a title contenders by himself nor can he go far in the CL without serious investments. So far BVB hasn't sold much, but haven't improved either. Draxler is obviously the biggest risk of all of them and it is absolutely normal that we have a huge gap with Schalke's idea of a 30+m player. There is a poster talking about the german pride, well Schalke have shown plenty.

That is the mentality...

We're u thinking about the deal or the friendly nutmeg he made out of respect for BonBon? :p

Only we get lowballed into accepting low offers for our best players :lol:

Just to clear up this myth once and for all, Götze plays a lot at Bayern. He got the 5th most minutes last season.

The only issue is him being played out of position, at the wings.

Just to make sure we understand each other. Goetze isn't decisive, nor is Bayern improving with him regardless of where he is being played. His agent blames it on the coach, Pep might blame his lack of something or desire to fit into his system... its all bollocks, the real problem is they aren't producing results.

If they stall this year it's not only Pep's ass on the line and EURO 2016 is coming up.

About Gotze: he gets 6m or even 7m at Bayern which is his boyhood club. He struggles there but it seems he's willing to give it a try once again. His choice.

About Reus: what you said is true but they can compete for CL spot with this squad easily. He's their top earner and the most important player around which they build their project. He just renewed and gets like 6m so I think his choice is easy to understand.

About Draxler: in fact the best thing for the kiddo would be to stay at Schalke. His boyhood club where he can rebuild his form after a horrible 14/15 season. He's got trust there and a very friendly environment to develop.

I think people should sometimes take a look from the other side. Sure we're a top club coming off a fantastic season but it doesn't mean everyone will gladly join us. We're not Barca/Madrid level yet and even those teams can't have anyone they want.

@Ocelot
Also you might add up the fact that the person he was competing for a place with (albeit on the wing) is currently in between injured and retired. Was he fit, Goetze would have left regardless of his impressive minutes stats.
@LiquidPLP
That is one way of looking at it and I respect your opinion.

I still think that joining Juventus, getting a first team place here and winning titles, getting to know a different culture/language plus building up your game is somehow more impressive than that ... but that is just my opinion.
