Exactly. He should've held the deal until he finds a proper replacement. Bayern probably did their shit right and as soon they knew Schweinsteiger wanted to leave they engaged in negotiations with Vidal's agent.

If Marotta signed Khedira as Vidal's replacement, then it's worse than I thought.

And funny enough, he just panicked looking for an AM after selling Vidal. So probably not the plan.

Going on by Schalke reaction, I think it is true.

As I said before, the must have been a verbal agreement between both clubs so Juve was allowed to talk to Draxler. Now, either, Marotta went with a lower offer to test schalke´s patience or the president made a U turn in the deal.

Anyhow, now that Marotta publicly stated that we are looking for an AM, together with vidal´s funds, we are not in a very strong negotiating position.

Both sides must have believed there was the possibility of doing a deal, but there probably won't have been anything more than that.
