Now, abou the player himself. He's currently 17 and will be 18 in a few days I believe. He's already a fixed starter of the team. As you know I'm a Fluminense fan and I watch all the games, so no one better than me to talk about this kid.

His main obvious position is AM / AML. But he's also been tested as a CM. His game is similar to Rivaldo, I believe. I see a lot of similarities between them. Tall, looks skinny but is very strong (Pogba like), great vision, passing and shooting, but he is somewhat slow. He doesn't have Pogba's agility, far from it. That's the biggest difference between them.

But as I watched his progression this year (his first at the pros - we're talking about 5 months into the year), I was impressed. He quickly became a fundamental player for the team. He really does have a different talent for vision and finding players. The kid is intelligent and creative. I had doubts about that before, now no more.

His passing is pretty much spot on. His finishing is pretty good. His left leg is kind of blessed, but he doesn't use the right one a lot. I see A LOT of similarities with Rivaldo.

Also he can dribble and is calm on the ball. And he seems to have a knack for the goal. In his first 11 games as a starter, he scored 4 goals.

He has 2 big problems though. The first, as I said, is some sort of slowness. His agility is not great, and in today's game slow guys don't have much room. But his final speed is good.

The second is the lack of stamina. He gets tired and disappear from games in the 2nd half, always.

These are goals playing for the professionals:

You can see he's eerily similar to Pogba, and he could adapt pretty well to the CM position.

I mean, if he shows he can use his right, can learn to defend, develops stamina... he could become a spectacular player. Intelligence, vision and creativity he has.

Summing it up, it's very early to tell his potential. He could have world class potential, or end up a huge flop. Paying 12M for this guy is a huge risk, he's not played much more than 10 games as a pro. Talent is there. He seems to be a good kid, with a stable family. Let's see what happens, I don't bank on success of flop for this kid.

i know todays prices are too infiltrated, but 30M for a 17/18 year old?
It's ridiculous, obviously. But I believe there's negotiation about him around 10M, which already is a lot. I definitely wouldn't cross the 10M barrier for him, he just started at the pros.

These ridiculous prices were fueled by Sao Paulo selling Lucas to PSG for 40M or some shit like that. Oil money doing his thang.

True

but still hoping this just a god damn rumors with no credits.
His father himself said this.. he may be lying, but I doubt it.

It would make sense that if we were intent on selling Pogba, we try to make all our signings first, to avoid getting jacked with the prices...
Yep...

I'm sorry to say this but it is looking like we may say goodbye to Pogba in a few months.

Marotta seems to be lining up very expensive signings. And in the case he's gone or wants to go, it is the right thing to do.

If these are the players we are after... Dybala + Cavani + Gerson.. we're talking about guys who can offer creativity, flair, vision, intelligence, dribbling, offensive power (Cavani).. exactly things Pogba provides.

I hope I'm wrong, let's see what happens.

But on the other hand, Juve probably placed an offer a while ago, interest didn't come up now.

And the Cavani thing may be bullshit as far as we know.

So to say Pogba will be sold is a huge reach

Reports from Brazil: Globoesporte.com (biggest sports website and that many times is spot on) got an info that Juve had offered 12M for Fluminense's Gerson during the South American U20 and that now they increased the offer to 15M. But they say that Fluminense wants 30M for the kid. Lol. 30M euros.

This was confirmed by Gerson's father, who was quoted as having said:

"We know Fluminense goes through a difficult situation, so I believe that if Juventus goes closer to what Fluminense wants, the chances of an agreement will increase. We know that it is important to Gerson the learning curve at Fluminense, but he's also a solution to the club, and Juventus has a project for him".

Fluminense's directors didn't confirm the story.

Look, it is a sure thing Juve is chasing Gerson, and willing to pay big for him. And this worries me a lot. First the Cavani talk, and now this. I don't believe we offered 15M for him, but something around 10M may be truth. I'm afraid Marotta may have already decided something about Pogba...

First we spend 36M on Dybala (28 + 8); than we chase Cavani who costs 45M with salaries of 7M; then we place an offer of around 10M for a 17 yr old Brazilian kid who plays AM and CM.

Not good. :(

Holy crap this is interesting.

I doubt we go for Cavani though, perhaps this kid and Berardi? :boh:

@PedroFlu I only read the first two paragraphs then came everywhere. Couldn't see the rest from all the mayonnaise on my screen.

Who are we talking about and when is he signing?

i'm betting on a fire sale from real this summer.
with all of that new money, get in there beppe:beppe:

honestly though isco is the only realistic signing who'd have a shot at making our team.

I think that Marcelo and maybe Ronaldo would be able to fit in.

Without having to sound pessimistic,i think he'll still be too expensive for us.

He's 50-60m signing category.Not happening IMO
