With a full squad,we are two injuries away from seeing Lichtsteiner - Barzagli - Bonucci - Chiellini.


We got plenty at LB.

2nd injury was meant as Licht(kinda pointless on my part tbh), which would leave us with PDC - CBs - Padoin, as Asa isn't in our current CL roster, as I recall. Chiello playing at LB in a big game also isn't a prospect that fills me with confidence, but we'd be playing 3 at the back anyway most likely, so it'd be Padoin or PDC imo. We have many players who can play at LB, but not ones you'd want to be playing in big games. PDC, Padoin, Ogbonna and Chiello as LBs are liabilities.

I want a pair of promising fullbacks as much as anybody, but I think any team is 2 injuries away at full back to have to resort to a $#@! player being deployed these days.

That's true enough, especially with the RB slot where both our primary backups are injured currently, but at LB we're relying on a player who's coming off knee-surgery and a nearly 34 yearold Evra. We'll have to invest something in a good LB soon enough like it or not, and there's not many more pressing spots to address. The striker situation will have to be sorted out and we'll need an AM assuming we stick with the 4-3-1-2, but that should still leave us with enough funds to invest in some promising depth elsewhere(like LB).

Honestly, my main concern is Evra's age. He's getting up there for a fullback and Asa's injury just accentuates that if we were to face a similar situation next season, but are left with a fading Evra(which is not all that unlikely) instead of the one who's been performing well recently, we're screwed.

Yeah if a solid fullback in his mid 20's or less is available for a reasonable price, i'd be all in for it.

To be honest I'm not all that sure it's inevitable Pogba would want to leave. The obvious reasoning would be that one day an offer would come in that we can't refuse and we'd tell Pogba that we wanted to sell. We've basically got no real need to sell since we're doing so well financially and with things only looking up. Meanwhile Pogba like the rest of our squad seems really happy to be a part of this 'family' as they all call it and which you can see in how even squad players like Padoin and Pepe are treated like best friends by our stars like Pogba and Tevez.

Let's not treat it like an absolute certainty.

As I admitted, the Licht injury scenario I referred to was pointless to bring up, as we're just enduring a period of misfortune with injuries at RB atm, but at LB we will have to make a move within the next two summer mercatos and personally I would rather we not risk going into a season where our European performance is pivotal for our future with only a 34 yearold Evra to fall back on if something were to happen to Asamoah, or if he doesn't return to his previous levels of performance.

I suppose a "wait and see" policy could be taken till the winter mercato, but options are limited then, as are funds. We'd likely end up making a panic buy rather than anything that would truly benefit us.

What you say goes for any starter. They can all get injured. And we are well protected against it. if a great opportunity presents itself, Beppe will grab it, but we are far, far from needing to invest in LB

Yes, but Asamoah is still recovering from knee surgery(how he looks upon returning will clearly affect this issue) and Evra is going to be 34 next season, which for a fullback is an age where we should be expecting a dip in performance. I'm not saying we should break the bank on a guaranteed starting LB, but a well-planned investment in a promising one would suit our squad's needs quite nicely imo and there seem to be a few available we've been linked with.

Don't underestimate the stupidity of PSG

If they would pay nearly 80M for both Pastore an unproven Palermo player and Lucas, plus their deals for Marquinhos and Luiz, I see them considering giving up a striker they use badly, a midfielder Pogba would replace and 20M petty cash for them.

It is probably nothing, but PSG have been retarded with their money spending habbits several times already. Not to mention straight cash for Pogba is almost impossible for them. They'd have to sell big to think about it. And funnily enough their most valuable asset that they're willing to part with would undoubtedly be Cavani.

Lukaku's first touch is his weak point, but he is better facing goal running with the ball at defenders, or onto though balls. Not the scraps he gets at everton

Being good as LWB does not necessarily mean that he'd be as good in Lb for the same reason that an attacking left sided midfielder or LWB might not be as good when deployed as a left winger. Bale could do it but marcelo and alves for instance cannot even though they are very good attacking wingbacks/fullbacks.

There is simply insufficient information about how good or bad Asamoah would be as an Lb. We saw one game only, which is far from a proper sample, and unfortunately it was against the best wingers in the world. Even if he did turn out to be just as good playing lb as he is playing LWB, we might want to still improve on him if the right players are available.
