we'll open a Götze thread for new emotions. @King of Kings

Götze must have the weirdest career ever. Had a great start, then went to Bayern as the new Messi. People found out he was nowhere near as good enough. BOOM, scores the extra time winner in a World Cup final. Fades away again.

'Inter, Juventus want Abdennour’
by Football Italia

Inter have made a 'concrete proposal’ for Monaco’s Aymen Abdennour, according to the player’s agent, with Juventus also interested.
The centre-back has been a key part of the defence which has conceded the fewest goals in Ligue 1, and also helped his side to the Champions League quarter-finals.
“With the season Aymen has had, there’s interest from everywhere,” the player’s representative told Footmercato.
“Clubs and sporting directors have called us, but there is nothing done yet.
“Clubs like Valencia, Newcastle, Tottenham, Inter and Wolfsburg have called us, we’ve received concrete proposals from those clubs.

“They’re seriously interested in Aymen. They want to know 'how much?’ and in my opinion that’s not all.
“Bayern Munich have a big interest in him. Even the great Barcelona have an eye on Abdennour, they have for a long time.
“When [former sporting director Andoni] Zubizarreta was there they were interested in him. Now Ariedo Braida is there, and with their transfer ban they can’t sign anyone until January [but] Abdennour would really fit into their plans for the future.
“Even Juventus have a huge interest in a player like him, suddenly the other Italian clubs are also interested.
“You don’t just find a defender like that on the streets.”
However, it is not certain that the Tunisian will leave the principality side.
“He is sought-after, but we must keep a cool head. He’s at Monaco, a good club. He has a good contract, and he still has four years [to run].
“I’m not saying Aymen wants to leave, he has ambition, he thinks it’s a stepping stone. Preferably, he’d like to join a team in the Champions League.”

Damn, would love to have him here.

Not sure how that would work out in terms of playing time though, even if Ogbonna leaves. 5 very good to worldclass CBs for 4 positions (+Caceres if you see him as one) is a bit overkill, don't know if he'd be down with spending a lot of time on the bench.

What if Rugani is loaned out again?
And we cant take a risk with Barzagli's and Caceres' fitness issues.
It doesnt seem that much of a farfetched idea IF Rugani gets loaned out again and Ogbonna is sold ofcourse.

I'd like to see Rugani here though tbh. Really think he's ready to make the step up, and nothing has indicated that the board doesn't plan to bring him in either, unless I've missed something.

Abdennour would significantly ease the pain however :D

I would too but i was going by some recent speculation abouy Rugani's future.Lets see how it pans out.

On a sidenote,i am actually quite happy we're lookinh towards depth again.I wont be surprised to see quite a few injuries next season with the kind of season we've had.So yeah, its important to refresh the squad.

This season has made me a convert.DEPTH FFS :tuttosport:
