Yep, check out BBY too. P/E of 8, dividend yield of almost 5%. Their cash flow is pretty healthy too. It’s my favorite retail pick.

I think inflation and rising rates might hurt them in the medium term though once wallets really start getting tight. You gotta buy food, but maybe not the latest iphone. Maybe in a few months time I'll pick up a few shares with a dividend like that.

I will be moving to Portland, Oregon soon where the median house price is 600k dollars. Fuck me. Will not be able to afford such a house for a while despite a good salary. I cannot imagine how most people can afford it with median household incomes. No wonder homelessness is an epidemic now.

Good luck man. I used to go down to Portland quite often, haven't for a few years though. It's a weird place, but some areas are very charming.

I would not worry about Costco if you're holding long term. Exemplary business. I never bought it because it was valued so richly (40X earnings currently...)

I've talked up energy here a few months ago, and it's been an ugly trade since then (typical!). A major holding of mine (TSX:JOY) announces quarterly earnings tomorrow, and I honestly think they will announce a fat print, have paid off more debt than anticipated, and be a much more valuable business than it was three months ago.

We'll see. But I am ready to be vindicated.

Edit: Nice little quarter they put together. Highest earnings in the company's history and made a major acquisition that should increase oil production by ~45%.

Edit #2: What is also missing in that image is the pro forma P/E multiple (or even the trailing P/E). It's trading at like, 2X earnings? 2.5? But most of the big allocators won't touch oil in general, and the ones that do can't do anything with a company under $1B market cap. The private equity guys don't touch publicly traded stuff, it's not in their bailiwick. You are competing against a few small hedge funds, retail, and the management who have skin in the game. There are few places in the market with limited competition like this. Good luck and cautious investing to all.
