If what u say about borrielo its true, then he was so desperate to use a target man over any SS that e overused borrielo (he lost confidence in his other striker, matri).
So IMO, if conte was so decided to find a CF to the point of using borrielo.... then he would not hesitate to sell Matri and skip jovetic(another SS) if that means a bomber who suits our playstyle.
Yes, but selling your star player is follows with a lot of re-structuring your team. Look at it for Viola's point of view...Jovetic stays, they only need to reinforce other areas, if he leaves, they still have to reinforce other areas but find a player capable of doing a fraction of what Jovetic can do. I am sure, if you own a team that risks losing your best player, you want to know quickly to you can begin your restructuring.
Juve is practically done...all we need is a striker...for Viola is different. If Jovetic leaves they need a new player(s) that can get the job done and that will take time to find. I am sure they have a sense of urgency on the matter, as they should.

Matri is a player that has some skills and tactical awareness, decent dribble, decent pass and decent shoot. He is similar to DP in a way, but not a gifted of course.
Due to the fact that Matri and DP had the tactical awareness to feel what and where their team needed them the most and also the skill to go back, live their CF post and help at the build up.
They were dimmed useless to Conte's tactical plan.
Those players where good, but it was difficult to fight their instincts and help where they felt that they were needed the most.
However Conte's tactical plan required them to be up there, even if they had to be mostly crippled and cumbersome.
Thats exactly what Borriello offered, he was a scarecrow, being up there, without any tactical and practical option to be and do elsewhere.
This was the reason he was prefered over DP and Matri, DP being older had less tendency to track back, but his leadership insticts pushed him there far too often.
Anyways, i m convinced that Conte will have his CF, i only hope that we wont spend all our budget on expensive subs and up with a cheap/free half measure for this crucial rule.

The way I look at it is this:
They went from a strong midtable team to a near relegation team. They have a lot of work that needs to be done to redo their squad to make it competitive again. If I were Prade I would want to know if Jovetic is going to be in or out as quickly as possible. "Do I have 30m to spend on upgrading the squad or not". His sale will drastically change their mercato plans, etc. If it were me, I'd want to know quickly...it wouldn't be about being impatient just to finish the transfer but I am sure Prade has a lot on his plate to get this team ready and upgraded and time to train together before the season starts. 30m in the last week of the mercato doesn't give you time to find the right players/balance.

Bolded above I disagree with in regards to Matri.
He is far to awkward with the ball at his feet. However, tactically I agree...he knows how to be in position when it matters, but that's just about it. He is the kind of striker you want to catch with the ball at your feet because you know he doesn't offer a threat...DP on the other hand is as dangerous as they come. No one should they be compared at anything, really.

If I was Prade, or Della Valle, I'd certainly sell Jovetic for 25-30M.
Jovetic was on the team when they were sniffing the relegation zone. They could really use that money to improve the squad to bring themselves back up the table again. There's far too many problems with the team, Jovetic can't do it all by himself. They should take the money, and reinvest it into their back line and midfield and attack. Buy a cheap, but decent quality player in each position. Especially now that Gamberini and Behrami are gone.

Just think about why Milan sold Ibra and T.Silva so soon. They gave themselves ample time to start reinforcing their team with a full market window.
Also, just look at all the panic buys we have made in the past because we ran out of time and not one was the right buy. If you wait too long, clubs become impatient and take their players of the market. They have a business to run just as Juve does. Not everyone's mercato revolves around Juve's and out of respect for Viola/Jovetic, I think we should close these deal quickly and move on.

True, but this time the pressure is not on us, as someone else pointed out, we can live without Jovetic, but they cant live without our cash...

Thats what i mean with decent and not great and i dont believe he is easily dipossesed, he is just not the forward that dribbles past CBs with ease.
DP at this age was easily dipossed unfortunately (mostly because of physicality of course) their roles were similar as far as the effect was concerned.
DP at his best could deliver pretty much everything, he was the complete player, passer, leader, PK/FK shooter, dribbler, finisher, everything, we might never see such a player again.
So we have to rely on the right tools for each job. We have pretty much everything covered bar the finisher!

I do see how Matri would be strong in this team this season but only because he will have the players all around him doing the dirty work and handing him the ball on a silver platter. All he would really need to do this season is ensure he is in the right positions in and around the box and be fed by Pirlo, Marchisio, Vidal, etc and have oozes of crosses by isla/armero (if we get him). But, at the end of the day, when the team is not clicking we need a game changer. He isn't one. Hopefully Giovinco/Mirko are up to the task this season but thats one of the sole reasons why I would want Jovetic here.
Some players on this planet don't need the other 10 players to change a game, some can do it on their own. I believe Jovetic is one and at only 22 years old he has so much fucking room to grow its ridiculous. He would be in a well established and hardworking team with chemistry and European competitions to grow from. He will be a monster in this team, guaranteed (providing no injuries).
