Although I would go mad if we sign Jovetic, but I don’t think he’s the way to go right now. We need an improvement over Matri not over Vucinic/Giovinco. And don’t tell me Jojo can play as a CF because he simply lacks the identity of a poacher. He will go for flashy shots and skills over just scoring a goal, which will decrease our efficiency, which is already low.

well said  I would be happy to have Jovetic but I wouldn't be expecting lots of goals. We need a proper CF to bang in the goals for us, Jovetic should be a signing for next season

Everybody was beggin to play (with al due respect) an old and slow Del Piero up front, but suddenly a stronger, faster and much younger Jovetic is not good enough to play that position.

It would just be like buying Pirlo when everybody expects Conte to play 4-2-4. He'd hav to make an adaption to his system, but quality stands out, quality always pops up.

He is good enough to play in that position, no doubt about it, but you would still need a better CF than say Matri or Quag next to Jovetic. Atm, I would rather see us get a proper CF of much better quality to play alongside Vucinic/Giovinco, and then get Jovetic next season. Course, we could always do it the other way around and get a SS with huge potential who is already good atm and get a better CF next season :p

Quality isn't all that matters.

Jovetic is a great player that I'd like to see in a Juve shirt. But I still think we need a pure CF in order to create a balanced attack.

Agreed but there is no use in buying one of the only strikers actually realistic for us right now only because we need a CF. If we will make an engagement like this it'd better be someone who can serve us for many years to come... Or someone we can sell on in a few years... Not pay about 50-60 mil for Van Poesje and serve him off in 2-3 years. That would be a waste of investment we can simply NOT afford. And if that means waiting another year, then so be it. It's not as if we'll lose the scudetto :)

Time we forgot about signing the likes of Jovetic or RvP considering their respective price tags/wages. Marotta has a set figure in his head that he is not going to compromise it would seem, and I'd bet he's already looking at cheaper alternatives. Although its frustrating that we're not gonna see that 'marquee' signing, it's also good that Beppe won't be pressured into breaking the bank either.

23-25 million Euros is hardly breaking the bank, when Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay 25 million Pounds for Oscar, and Liverpool 35 million Pounds for Carroll :howler: :seven: If Marotta is unable to see that, then it's time to wake up and smell the roses. He won't get anyone top notch (especially when it comes to forwards) for under 20 million in today's market (unless they are on the final year of their contract and desperately want to leave).

Too early to give up...

because the revenues for clubs in Italy and England are exactly the same, of course.

Liverpool and Chelsea aren't great examples to follow, they'll pay whatever they're being asked, no matter how inflated the asking prices are. Besides, Marotta has stated on more then one occasion that it's a very difficult market nowadays and that we are not willing to be dragged into bidding wars, which I respect.

He got us Vidal and Pirlo last year... 10,5 combined. Top notch, that it is. We shouldn't feel pressured to pay whatever someone asks just because we want a forward. It's still a desire, not a need.

Of course not. Hence, why a club like Liverpool is able to pay 35 million Pounds for Carrol, and 25 million Euros for Suarez, waste shitloads more on average English talent, maintain their squad, yet not make the CL.

It's one signing FFS; I'm not asking us to splash crazy money like PSG, City, or Chelsea, but if we bought someone like Matri for 18 million, 23-25 million Euros for one single player who is so much better isn't a stretch. However, if you fail to see that, then you are just as delusional as Marotta.

Reread my post. I said especially/particularly forwards. If you feel a forward is a want and not a need, then I have no reason to argue with you, as we are obviously not on the same page. A forward is a fucking necessity, a far more important one than adding depth to the squad FFS. However, if you see otherwise, then let's just end it there.

I agree with you mate that a lot of money has been spent needlessly over the years that combined could have been better distributed.
