You have a point there. But then on the other hand we'd have Llorente, Mirko, Jovetic and Quag. All of them are capable of putting the ball in the net even if they are not classic strikers (bar Llorente) and various of combinations between them would work. So direct Matri replacement might not be necessary.

Like I said yesterday:

Somebody earlier mentioned how we should get Piszczek. Just to say it's not possible, or we should not do it. He's a good player buuuut... he has a hip problem and he has been playing under pain (and injections) for like 3 months due to his important role at Dortmund. And now when season is done he's off to surgery which will take him off field for 5-6 months. So all in all I wouldn't take that gamble.

We won't even try to get Piszczek.

You just know that we won't pay so much money even if Messi is on the market. That's the most that Fiorentina could ask for him, and not even close to what we will offer. Even if we do offer 20-25m eur, it's gonna be cash+player(s).

The transfer may officially end up being worth something close to 30m.

However, it'll only be if Fiorentina agree to over-value Quagliarella or Marrone or whoever is included in the deal for accounting purposes/making it look like they've got a great price for Jovetic.

I'd expect something to be agreed that is actually worth about 25m, and I don't think that is an unreasonable price for Jovetic.

Cash + players or not, we're still agreeing to Fiorentina's value of him of something close to €30M, and that is an absolute robbery. I'd argue he's worth slightly higher than half that fee.
