Are people starting to see the pattern? If not, I'll remind you.
First Ibra was linked to us, and then that failed. Then, Higuain, and that's probably not going to happen. Neither is Tevez. Now, we seem to be close to Jovetic. I'll leave the conclusion up to you.
I personally think we're going to end up signing an okay player who's probably worth around 15 M, and sell just one of our strikers. I don't see any kind of revolution taking place. Also, I think our best signing this summer won't even be in attack, and probably not someone we expected.
What I base this on is not any contact with transfer gurus but on two reliable facts.
1. We already signed Llorente. It would be absurd to think we're going to get two more players in that department. Our attack is shit, true, but to replace what we have with two class strikers would effectively break the bank and I highly doubt we'll do that coming off two successful seasons where we've overachieved and surpassed our initial projections.
2. It's still very very very very early in the transfer season. I remember one season when our transfers on the very last day were Ibra and Canna. Point is, it's going to be a long summer and we're going to see a continuous trend where we get linked to players and then something goes wrong. Now, one reasonably this happens is because the club wants to get the best possible deal, and that happens when you wait. Clubs bring down their asking prices and you end up paying something close to ideal. The good news is we probably will get a player for decent value, the bad news is he won't be the one we really wanted.
