if our main formation is 3-5-2, the sale of licht will not weaken our team in any significant way. if the sale enables us to buy a qulity forward the team as a whole will be stronger.

sometimes you cant have it all
Unless the quality forward is Cavani the team won't be stronger imo. Our attack still won't be comparable to the Madrid, Barcelona, Man City or PSG no matter who we get. Defence is our strong point, besides the left wing back with De Ceglie, Caceres or Asamoah isn't that strong so Isla as an attacking wingback just doesn't compensate for Lichtsteiner leaving.

How fucking infuriating.

So no more 4-3-3?

Even in the 3-5-2, he's pretty good. Sure, Isla may be better but why can't we just have a very good back up and someone to start when we use a back 4 (especially since Isla has been injured for a long time now)? Caceres isn't very reliable as a RB in a back 4. Plus, he's supposed to be a backup CB as well, no?

And really, if it's PSG buying, how come we're the only ones that gives them a good price on our players? 15m is too cheap, considering what we paid for him. We should be getting at least 20 from PSG.

Caceres is the weakest of the trio. He shouldn't have been signed if we needed the money.
The main thing is that our plans were to play 3-5-2 and not 4-3-3. Caceres can easily fit in a couple of positions and that move makes sense, he's a good player and he did show it.

The change of formation IS the biggest reason IF we sell Licht.

He wasn't that good, Nick. RB in a 4-3-3 is his true position.

Isla is a better RWB than Licht in a 3-5-2
This is true, but one of the reasons I was starting to really look forward to next season was that we had the best of both worlds. Lichtsteiner AND Isla.

What's our problem, really? Are we afraid to have a squad that's TOO good? Do we really want the Champions League, at all?

Caceres is definitely not a better RWB than Licht. I also prefer Licht as a RCB.

I like both Isla and Caceres, but in a 4-3-3 they just don't cut it the same way Lichtsteiner does. No fucking way.

This FORCES us to play the 3-5-2, and inevitably it's gonna make us more predictable.
its not like we cant play 4-3-3 without licht. we would be a little worse in defense and a little better on the offence.

But Caceres can play as a CB, possibly even as a LW too.

And it's not like Licht is a great player for 3-5-2. He's clearly much, much better for a 4 man defense.
Do you trust Caceres as a CB in a 4 man defense? I don't. I think I never saw him play LW too, not that it matters anyway.

I wonder what people see in Caceres better than Licht in 3-5-2.

will not be happy if we sell him off especially to those french fucks! and if we do sell him 15m is not a proper price for a player who is very influential for us not to mention reliable as any player can get! he isnt in his last year of his contract he is considered a starter until isla proves otherwise. so i dont get why marotta would agree to such a minimal fee for a player who plays in a position where there arnt many truly good players left. Lets face it the world of football is hurting in the full back positions unlike the previous generation. I dont like this sell and very much dont like the price. When you think marotta starts making some good transfer crap like this happens. Even if licht wanted out 15m is to little.

They had to sign Caceres. It was part of the deal when he transferred over in the winter. If Juve reached a certain point, they had to buy him. there was really no choice in that matter

Nobody said he's better, but just pointing out that Licht is not that good in 3-5-2 as he doesn't make forward runs and gets shut down easy.

Caceres can play different positions and Licht can't, but that is not the point. We're not comparing Licht and Caceres for 3-5-2, we can only compare Isla and Licht. I don't think Licht would accept a bench role and we surely didn't sign Isla for so much money to sit on the bench.

if we get someone to score the goals, i would be comfortable with beeing a little worse in defence. last year we were missing someone to score the goals, and that is important in football :)
this year like last year, most teams in italy will park the bus. so its more important to get the first goal to open up the game. than more goals will surely follow, as we have counter attacing specialist gio :)

i would say that the midf. were the main reason for letting in so few goals, and the team all working hard pressing the opposition, loosing licht will not makes us poor in def. all of a sudden.

Than lets sell Vidal too we have padoin and Co to Cover...and than we can get an Even better forward... If we sell licht this mercato gets a 0 Out of 10! Marotta couldn't sell Martínez melo iq Ziegler pazienza and Co and now he is Short of cash to get us a cf and sells One of the best Players from Last year.... If the 3 man defence fails in Europe or One of Bonbon barzagli or chiellini gets injured we are fucked ... fuck lucio
