Research by Italian consumer study group Adiconsum has suggested that the results of 157 Serie A games were changed by refereeing mistakes last season.

The investigation was undertaken in the wake of the Calciopoli scandal with the aim of ascertaining to what extent refereeing errors can be fairly labelled as intentional bias.

It emerged that 41% of games last term were influenced by officials, and that Chievo would not have been relegated were it not for wrong decisions made by referees.

The findings are set to intensify the debate over the use of technology in football and will be used as ammunition by those who want to see video technology brought into the game.

“The data doesn’t lie,” President of Adiconsum Paolo Landi claimed. “If technology allows us to prevent mistakes, standing in its way means covering up for those with secret agendas.”

No wonder people lost interest in watching serie A last year. I knew the only way inter would win the scudetto over Roma was by cheating/influencing officials.

I have the feeling that this season will be the least "honest" season we ve seen in the last decade...

Idiots. Did they compare to other leagues? No. So you don't even know what you're talking about.

There is this same foul play in every league. Italy is constantly used as an example... it is pathetic. No matter what, people will find a way to break the rules. The media needs to get a life and just print the results and stats of games. This is stupid... like people actually think any team is honest.

Inter is in political control and have been for a long time. This still doesn't help them from being natural born losers. They will choke.

I'm so interested reading the list of 'changed games' and I'd very much like to know which clubs had benefited from the errors.

When a ref makes a mistake and that mistake favours Juve, it's calciopoli

When a ref makes a mistake and some other club benefit from it, it's unavoidable human error.

They can all go to hell.

Care to enlighten us?
41% of the games are influenced by refereeing decisions, huh? That number is about the same in England, Germany and TBH every other country out there. If a ref hands out an unfair red card early on or calls for a penalty which wasn't there, the game is changed. And that shit happens all the time. Saying 41% of the games is influenced doesn't equal saying there's a scam.

41% is not exactly a minor ammount, thats almost half of decisions being incorrect, either that refs are actually partially blind, or just plain biased 41% is ridiculous, id be interested to know the percentages of past seasons
