Juve fans ban Stankovic
Saturday 28 June, 2008

The controversy over Dejan Stankovic’s move to Juventus rolls on as fans start a petition to ban any transfers from Inter.

The Bianconeri have confirmed they are interested in signing the Serb midfielder, but this decision has caused shockwaves in the fan community.

A petition has been started to convince the club that Stankovic would be the wrong move for a number of reasons.

When he left Lazio in January 2004, he had seemed set to join Juve, but at the last second chose rivals Inter instead.

Also, he was among the most vocal detractors of Juventus during the Calciopoli scandal, when the 2005-06 title was stripped from the Turin giants’ record and handed to Inter.

“Stankovic is a wide midfielder and we need someone who can lead the play from the middle of the park,” pointed out pundit and legendary Juve supporter Giampiero Mughini.

“As for Inter, we will only resume negotiations of any kind with them when they admit they did not win their 14th Scudetto.

“Until that day, no exchanges or transfers, let alone this one. It is inelegant for Juve to gather the crumbs that have fallen from other people’s tables…”

A similar situation is emerging at Atalanta, where the supporters are protesting against Christian Vieri’s possible return to the club.

I might listen to those fans if they suggested an alternative, but they just don't want Stankovic.

Why not suggest someone better who is available for a similar price?

I dont understand the people who dont want him just because he's an Inter player..as far as i'm concerned, i'd take any player that would imrove my team, even if he played for Man Utd or the Yids.

We had Inter players before, and we handed them two of our players post-calciopoli...
Why would that be not ok now?!!!
The question for me is : would stankovic be useful to our cause now?!!!

He could add depth he could even play in neddys position although giovinco playing time would suffer.

Stankovic isnt a bad player, if were buying him with alonso and not by himself, it would be a clever move by our secco.

The deal is done with the player(3.2m) and :inter:(9.5m)...He would of already been presented if it wasn't for the fans being pissed about it so they're deciding if they want to go through with it or target another mid.

Probably they'll make a press conference for both Alonso and Stankovic so they'll take the attention away from Stankovic.
The fans are wrong here. First of all they don't represent all the Juventini in the world and second they have no rights to interfere like this in the mercato.
If the board and the coach decided that it's a good thing to buy Stankovic then the fans should accept, obey and support the decission. It's not like we're selling Del Piero to Inter for 1m or we're buying a 5th Chinese league goalkeeper for 20m. In case the board is obviously hurting the team then i could understand the fans, but it's not the case here.

Personally, i'm not so sure anymore if i want Stankovic in Juve. The idiots will whistle everytime he touches the ball, they'll kill his confidence and make the whole team nervous.
On the other hand, it's a bad thing if the board won't show any guts and do what they planned to do. If they give up on Stankovic they'll let the world see that they're weak and they're letting the fans (again a reminder: Badass Devil is also a fan) run the team.
The same story with Donadoni and the Italian newspapers all over again.
