If we apply the logic used in this thread Houston Rockets should never have trade Steve Francis for T-Mac because the former is sponsored by Reebok in contrast to latter's Adidas.
The matter of fact is, IMO, the team will try to sign players that they like regardless of the sports-maker that sponsors them, unless the latter is willling to finance part of the deal due to increased income through marketing. Will "synergy" effect justify extra 5m spending on the part of sponsors? The answer is no, IMO, and thus team will buy players that "they" like not their "sponsors" like.
