Raul's yellow card

Spanish World Cup striker Raul is in hot water for wearing an "unlucky" shirt to training.

The Real Madrid star faced the wrath of Spain coach Luis Aragones after turning up to a get-together in a yellow surf-style t-shirt.

Aragones, who follows the religion of kabbalah, believes the colour is bad news, despite the fact it makes up a third of the Spanish flag.

The incident at the Las Rozas ground was reported by the El Pais newspaper, under the headline "Raul, with the forbidden colour".

The article read: "Apparently Raul does not know, or else is not worried, about the fact that yellow is an object of vexation to his coach.

"Luis Aragones, who practises kabbalah, considers it a colour which brings bad luck."

The paper said Aragones shouted to the player: "Raul, take it off, take it off!" as soon as he spotted him.

El Pais claims the manager's fear of yellow is so strong that he once ordered a set of training cones in the offending shade to be replaced with red ones.

Spain are in line to play Brazil in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. Could be interesting.

Ukraine wear Yellow, would be funny if they meet Brazil, Aragones would have his back turned and watch the game on a black and white TV

So far, Spain has the best squad with no weakness, along with Italy.
Interesting opinion that. Personally I would suggest Italy's weakness is a severe lack of quality in midfield, and no proven international level goalscorer up front. There's also question marks as to just how good Nesta is, I mean he's always been vastly overrated but not impressed me at all this year. Cannavaro is going to have to work his socks off to get Italy anywhere near the final. Then you have the endless question marks over Totti, should he be picked, is he detrimental to the team's hopes, could it all backfire. Will be interesting to say the least.

Spain the perennial underachievers, appear to have no defenders bar Puyol of anything like the required standard, and also a muppet in goal. Going forward as ever they will be very good to watch but perhaps not that good. I mean when you look at the CL semifinalists, we had Barca and Villareal, the main attacking threat came from foreigners not Spaniards. Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Deco, Giuly, Riquelme, Forlan etc. It will be interesting to see how much depth there is in there.

And, I know I'm english and everything but you have got to put us up there with a chance. There's no significant weakness as far as I can see, the same could almost be said for the argies as well.

I would say Argentina has the same problems as Italy, plus they depend on 1 or 2 players too much. As for England, none of the strikers inspire fear into me. Holland has the world's most sucky defence, Spain aren't much better defensively speaking, Portugal lack good finishers... Really, there's only one team without weaknesses and that's Brazil. But we've all been over that.

Yes, I'd say our lack of strikepower is a bit worrying, but we'll never know. If Rooney and Owen can get match fit, then surely thats enough to inspire fear as you put it :)

As for brazil they are certainly not without weakness. Defence for a start!! Allied to the fact that most likely Emerson will be holding the team together by himself, with countless attacking talents running around all over the place!

I see a lot of laughing on the Spanish squad. I wonder what will happen if they upset those who are laughing at them.

The one who chokes at crucial moments? :D
I'd disagree with that. Del Piero, Raul and Rui Costa just have the same problem: they're no doubt the most talented of their generation, but there's something tragic about them that doesn't allow them to win.

Del Piero scored an all important penalty against Milan in 2003, so he's no choker.
