Nop don't think they can, they need "alot" of work and time to reach that level. I wouldn't be suprised if they had a terrible season yet again....
if Kaka and Ronaldo stay fit Madrid should be able to beat most teams in Spain. They almost caught Barca this season at one point so I could see them being contenders next season for sure. I am not sure about CL if they can't settle the defence.

Real Madrid's spending doesn't worry me at all. First of all, they are overpaying, way too much. You might argue Kaka's fee is worth it, but Ronaldo's is not, it should be around Kaka's or if we're going strictly off of player performances, a bit lower.

Secondly, this was their starting defense last season :

Gabriel Heinze : A walking timebomb. How United got Real to pay 10million euros for him when he was already 29 is beyond me.
Pepe : Never convinced me as world-class, and he's got 6 more games of suspension.
Cannavaro : Gone.
Sergio Ramos : A year ago was one of the best fullbacks in the world, he was shit this season. Heinze rubbed off on him.

If Perez was smart, he'd go for Vidic. But Vidic doesn't sell that many jerseys. We're talking about the defense that leaked 6 against Barcelona at home, and 5 on aggregate against Liverpool.

Didnt Scolari fail with Chelsea?
i dont think he failed. He just did not have the players he wanted. He had players like Anelka and Ballack and Lampard.. but he was coach of Brazil and Portugal. The players he had were not able to accomodate the style he wanted. When he asked for certain players he was not allowed to sign them so how could he turn Chelsea into the attractive team he wanted it to be.

At Madrid he would be able to play his attacking system and get results.

Hiddink did well at Chelsea cuz he realized that team has the players to play a certain way.. solid, strong and defensive.. not the Scolari way.

Laporta: 'Moratti asked for Eto'o, no agreement for Ibra'

"We have not reached any agreement for Ibrahimovic”. Joan Laporta denies the agreement for the acquisition of the Inter Swedish striker. The president of Barcelona said from New York to Catalunya Radio: "There was a meeting with Moratti because Mourinho likes Eto'o. We will try to renew the contract with him, but not at all costs. He’s admired by many clubs, we will do our best to keep him because for me he is the best striker in the world"

i have to disagree here fred, i think that Forlan has found his club in atletico. he pretty much dragged the team through the end of teh season, he scored rakers with his left and his right(seriously,is he left or right footed?) and twice has overhauled Eto'o in the last few weeks of the season to finish with the golden boot. it is easy to write a player off when he flops at one club but excels elsewhere(sissoko anyone?i bet the english still think he is useless) looking objectively i have to say he would be a player i would snap up given the chance

no,not really......listening to the englsih media when KAka was announced you would have thought they had spent millions on Carlton Cole

 absolutely sublime, the problem with Real was raul,carlos,morientes,etc....who got del bosque the sack and thought they were bigger than the club
I really wish Forlan does move to another team in Italy or England. I am still certain that he only thrives when given space. Like i said before he strikes me as a player that is deadly when given space, he's two footed and he's got a good shot on him. But 33 league goals make him look better than he is. I'm not saying he's a bad player, not at all, he's a decent striker. But like i told Osman, i can name 10 strikers better than him, and i did a few posts ago.

if he had did it once then your point could be more valid but he has been banging the goals in for fun, though tbh i do feel that he needs to be an important player in a team and there is always the chance he could stagnate at a top club with greater competition and he is not the main goal threat

Then we are in agreement. I never said he wasn't a good player. Just that his goal scoring record gives him more than he deserves. Would you take him to Juve as a starter?

like i said i believe Atletico are perfect for him, they need someone to bail them out of the shit all the time and that importance in a team is what he thrives on
