What Ronaldo and Messi have been doing these last 4-5 years is incredible. I can't recall that there ever were this kind of dominance before or that it lasted this long and I must admit, though unwillingly, IMHO they are really the best players I've seen. Neither have the elegance of Zidane, the fantasy of Del Piero, but they've been incredibly efficient.

Defending standard has deteriorated, undoubtedly, but not as much that it would allow these two to score 50-60 goals per season.
