not thrilled with the prospect of Real Madrid dominance tho.
Why do you care for the Spanish league? Not that Madrid will dominate in Europe if barca are choking, there are many other teams out there.

On another note, for the sake of laughing, I wish Guardiola will coach Arsenal one day.

Yes why would you want to keep coach that has had a run of 13-14/ titles out of 18 possible.

Dont get why he would want to leave really, its bit weird.
Because he knows he will not win a single title anymore with barca if the referees stop helping them.

I don't think he's a pussy. If Anything he could have stayed more in such a strong squad like Baca and keep winning trophies like he's done in 4years. I think his decision is pretty brave one.
I think it was right for him to move though, because the dominance wasn't really going to be longer term if he wasn't set on signing for more than a year at a time. Needed a change for interest value.

I do want Pep to come to Serie A, I think it would be interesting to see how he deals with that sort of pressure.

Juventus make Madrid their slaves. I can't see a team dominating Europe for a while now.

I have read countless of interesting interviews of him talking about the need to keep yourself challenged/motivated (mentionned the short contracts due to that, didnt want club/players to take things for granted, one season at a time, to keep enthusiasm and never lose hunger/drive etc), so I get that part if its the reason. But stress? He has been involved with this club for over 2 decades, it would be odd if he would get stressed out to be there. See the former as more possible, but the timing is bit weird still. Even I'm not suprised, as I said, he has talked about leaving in several interviews in the past years.

Villanova worked with him closely all this time, so good luck to him, but I gotta say Barca are fucking lucky they dodged the Luis Enrique bullet...Villanova might turn out worse, but LE was cack too for Barca B besides being woeful in Roma.

And yeah it will be interesting to see Pep elsewhere, not next season but season after that prolly. Extra intriguing if its Serie A, Mourinho is more naturally conservative/defensive coach, but even he was crying about how tactical your average minnow adapted against you etc. Would be good challenge for Pep to get out of his comfort zone. Even if it may IMO be bit too soon leaving what he has done in Barca.

Don't forget that pre 2006 barca were the ultimate chokers and Guardiola was part of the choking barca. That was in regard to him being in the club for two decades.

I don't know why everyone is making such a big deal over this. Before 2009 Pep was nothing but the B team coach. The Tito guy will probably be fine.

Stress/lack of energy is big part of it, as you said JuveJay:

Guardiola: it's a situation that is not easy for me

Pep: I hope that you can understand my reasons. I'm sorry for the uneasiness I have created during this time.

Guardiola: "Four years is an eternity for a coach"

Guardiola: "Being Barcelona coach for four years is an eternity."

Pep: Since October, beg of Dec, I told the director that my time at the club was ending.

Pep: I couldnt tell the team my decision then. This is because everything has taken so long.

Guardiola: "The new coach will provide things I have not been able to provide"

Guardiola: "I don't have any energy left, I need to recharge."

Pep: In 4 yrs we have been able to rest very little and the coach must be strong, with the necessary energy.

Guardiola: "Time has taken its toll"

Guardiola: "I'm drained and I need to fill up. The demand has been very high and a manager must be strong."

Pep: I need to recuperate energy and that can only be achieve by resting, by distancing myself.

Guardiola: "It wouldn't have been a good thing, not for me, not for the players, if I would have continued."

Guardiola: "I am going away with the feeling I have done my duty, proud of the way I've done it. The club is a powerful force."

Pep: The love I have for the players is very strong. I know what I am leaving, that its the best place possible, a privileged place.

Guardiola: "I thank the players who have made possible the game I had in mind."

Pep: I'm satisfied by the results and thankful for the players for everything they have given during this process.

Guardiola: "The person who will succeed me has the skills to do so."

Pep: Thank the players for the millions of plays and matches that were imagined and became a reality.

Guardiola: "I leave with the feeling of a job well done. I'm proud to have been Barcelona's coach."

Pep: The players have given me the best prize.

Guardiola: "I need to recover the passion I had in my first year. The culprit in all this? Time."

Pep: With Barca B i wanted to get promoted, years later I got the opportunity

Pep:...with the first team with the feeling that we were capable of everything.

Pep: I could have continued, but not in the way Barca deserves.

Pep: This is a team is strength, a life, an unstoppable force.

Pep: I'm not scared because who succeeds me will be better capable to continue with this work.

Q&A, Pep: Since I arrived I said I would try to be the best coach for the players.

Question: And now what? Pep: You wouldn't be interested (smiles)

Guardiola:"I'm the manager with the third most games on the bench in the history of the Club. This is an exception. The problem is time."

Pep: That strength I had, I was losing it and I leave the path for someone else. Best sensation for me is that I've done the deed.

Guardiola: "Sooner or later, I'll take up another coaching job but not right now."

Pep: I am not thinking about training, but I may change my mind. For now, I am not interested.

Guardiola: I wish Tito the best. Aside from of my high esteem for him, I thank him for all he has helped me with.

Guardiola: "You can expect the best from Tito. He's more than skilled, the players know him... I think the club made a great choice."

Guardiola: "I'm truly sorry for losing my energy. If I don't have that life that I had when I started... I can't lie."

Guardiola: "I was just the voice of the ideas Tito and I developed together."

Guardiola: "The players have today trained as beasts. It's a good sign. They'll feel bad for one night. They're in good hands."

Guardiola: "If I had felt he was not the right person (Tito), I would not have suggested - but that is not the case"

Guardiola: "I could met Chelsea in February, but it would have meant lack of respect for Barça"

Pep: All the coaches in the world wish they could coach at Barca.

Pep: I told Tito that is he feels strong enough, to go for it. If you think this can keep working. It's demanding.

Pep: I have no doubts that he is capable to coach this team.

Pep: With Laporta and Rosell, relations have been impeccable and I can only thank them for everything.

Pep: My family has not influenced me whatsoever. I've known my wife since I was a player, the kids are very young.

Guardiola: "When Ttito asked me my opinion, I said he should feel if it. That if he felt strong enough, he should get in there."

Guardiola: "The decision to appoint Tito was made by Zubizarreta. He just asked my opinion, I said he could do the job."

Pep: I don't know when I will coach again. Im interested in doing other things. Now, rest. We'll see where life takes me.

Pep: I want to distance myself from the pressure of football, and I will see what I do with my life.

Pep: I don't even know when I will want to coach again.

Pep: There are things other than football, don't dedicate everything to football, I've told my players.

Guardiola: "I've thought a lot about Abidal, and Keita, who has been my ethical, vital barometer."

Guardiola: "I won't keep the titles, I will keep the memories of personal relations, what we lived together. That has been the best part."

Pep: Let's be clear. I'm leaving. I'm taking a step back. I'll be here until the cup final and then I will no longer be here.

Guardiola: "The president has offered me some things, but I need to take some distance."

Very true, Tito is in the same spot Pep was 4 years ago, unproven rookie, but doing what Pep did is not a norm for rookie coach, despite the fantastic assets a Barca coach has to work with.

Hopefully this will be the first step in taking barca back to pre 2006 choke fests.
That will probably be the case to be honest. Sad sad day for football.

Man, that would be such a dream come true. He would need the board to give him some money, but i'm pretty sure he'll do a great job.

I had the same face as Busquets when reading it.

If for anything, its because it could mean that the choker Mourinho now has the opportunity to dominate.
