I don't get all the hate Messi gets. He's a great player and he's also humble and seems to be a good person.

I bet most people here would fap to death and would shut up if he was playing for us. I hate Barcelona as much as the next guy but let's not be blinded by hatred of Barcelona, Messi is a great player and doesn't deserve all the hate.
I'm glad that he's a nice guy, only the good die young anyway. :D

Messi has never scored against us.
Indeed, doesnt mean he hasnt performed against you though (remember when he was starting out in first couple seasons, was great in CL vs Chelsea, just didnt have the same insane end product, and was a winger then), but when I was typing that, I was thinking the only exception was the Chelski team that Iniesta needed to score a very late goal against to win, they handled Barca tactically well. Despite losing, only other similar kinda tactical perfection vs this Barca was Mourinho's Inter. Otherwise in general last 5 years, Messi and Barca havent been too challenged.

You said totally flop, totally flop, so yes I read you clearly, question is if you did, unless totally flop = Not having the same great set up as the best team in the world now? And the more defensive leagues part, I guess you mean EPL (because Serie A even more tactical, really lacks real top quality defending), same EPL which top teams he has faced in CL year in year out and performed more then well enough against. But hey, he hasnt faced Stoke yet :D

I would never belittle the fact of playing with players the caliber of Xavi and a great team in general, but who is the best player in Barca? Messi, and what makes them great is specifically someone that brings the quality like Messi does. But somehow someone who assists the most, scores the most, performs in the biggiest matches, is made out to be someone who is simply coasting on the success of his teammates. Its really beyond insane to read. One thing to say Ronaldo is better or whatever, another thing to say "he would totally flop in other teams, even quality ones". Then harp on who his success rides on Xavi and et al, never acknowledging the reverse is even possible (I mean, he is just a 24 year old who has already scored 200 goals for Barca, thats nothing).

I mean I 100% get it if it was about proving more in NT footie, but club level, basically doesnt get better then what he does. Ridicolous to seriously belittle that acheivement in his relatively young career so far.
First off, i never belittled his achievement. I simpy pointed out the fact that his footballing colleagues make him seem way better than he really is because of their quality. They cover for him, they mop up his mistakes & gift him with sublime passes/crosses.

Secondly, i should have worded that sentence correctly, so i'll admit an exaggeration on my behalf.:D That said Messi scores like a mad man at barca, do you really thing he'll score hattricks every other game in another league? Do you really see him having the same space he's gifted in La Liga? Messi will not mirror his barca performances for another team. As for Messi being barca's best player, that's down to opinion but i guess you're just going with popular opinion & trying to force it down my throat.

That being said, i never said Messi is rubbish. I never said Messi rides on his teammates success, sorry but that's you twisting words. Messi is a quality player, i ver denied it but somehow it's a crime to acknowledge his flaws & be realistic about him not mirroring his success at another team.

Do you know his CL record?

Meh Byrone, how boring, backtracking and not really saying anything in your latest post. No point continuing this, instead I'll just post his 202 goals (you can enjoy the great passes/assists he gets):

No, not a fact but it's reasonable to believe that he is more likely to succeed than "He certainly won't come close to the sort of performance he's bringing in for barca, week in & out for another team". Certainly, Xavi, Iniesta and the Barca system contribute majorly to his success, but you can't take away that as an individual player, he is the most (or 2nd) talented.

Btw, Dinho only flopped by the standards we hold him by, but if he went to Milan as an unkown, he would've been seen as a success.
Yes it's reasonable because players that perform well always carry their form to another team. Yet again Matt, where did i ever say Messi isn't a great footballer? When did i make him out to be a rubbish player?

As for the Dinho remark, that's what i'm getting at. When a player maintains a certainly level of football, he gains a reputation & is held to those standards. With all the pro's at Messi's disposal, i find it very difficult to bring that sort of form with him in another team. If he does, i'd more than gladly eat humble pie. I'm not one of those people that would never admit they were wrong, when proven wrong.

So what I'm saying is that he might not be 1.75 goals per game-Barca-Messi, but he's still the best player in the world and I would expect him to be the best wherever he goes.
