Yes those Spanish teams are better than their Italian counterparts. Udinese are a poor team, they played against the worst Arsenal side in 15 years, yet lost both games, home and away. I can't see us doing the same to a Villareal, Valencia, Sevilla or Athletico.

This is true. While i would admit that Liga has the better teams than Serie A, and equal to the EPL, it has no appeal to me whatsoever. I cannot watch Liga games at all to be honest.

At the end of the day, if you start following football, your focus is on attacking prowess & entertainment which La Liga offers in abundance. Generally the average fan wants to see lots of goals & doesn't care too much for the technical side of things & careful, concise defense.
