They only became favored by referees when Pep came? Why did that happen?
How should I know? :boh: I've been following European football since 97 and I don't remember any single big team favored by the refs (at European level) as much as Barca have been in the past few years.

I'm not belittling the achievement. I'm saying that Barca team is nowhere near this one. Are you denying that? Because it would be pretty easy proving you wrong if you did
Not as good, i agree. But still a team on a great run of results.
Last time we beat Barcelona they had Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Xavi etc?
That's was a friendly. I remember that game. IIRC we won on pk's and Trez was voted MOTM ;)

2006 had its fair share of referee favours towards barca too.

Ya well, you were replying to a post of mine that was talking about the current Barcelona team, the team that has not had less than 50% in any official game with Pep in charge, the team that consists of the trio of Messi, Iniesta and Xavi and the team that has won 3 straight La Liga titles, 2 champions league medals, 1 copa, 1 european super cup and one world club cup, the team that has outclassed and dismantled teams such as Mourinho's Real, Ferguson's United twice and Arsenal. So after all that, when you tell me that Juventus beat the Kluivert, Rivaldo and co Barca team, that has never at the very least reached a CL final, that has never won back to back league titles, then you're going to have to forgive me for thinking that that isn't much of an achievement in the context i am talking about.

Not the way Barca outclass us though. We usually have most of the ball possession against other teams, even though we don't do anything substantial with it and end up getting killed on the counter. The way Barca just played us off the park last season, no other team came close to outclassing us like that.

I actually think you would have won at the Camp Nou if it wasn't for Van Persie's unjust red card.

Is dominating possession like Barca did more of a domination than when Man Utd destroyed you in the CL Semi a few years ago?

That counter-attacking Man Utd display was just as convincing and controlled as what Barca did against Arsenal, to my mind.

Yes it was, we were utterly outclassed in that game. But we were shittier that season than we were when we played Barca last season. I was talking about last season's team btw.

We were outplayed even before the red card mind you, and if we're talking bad refereeing decisions, they should have never lost at the Emirates if it wasn't for some bad decisions. Messi's goal comes to mind, so does Arsha's blatant hand ball in the box.
