Zidane didnt move to Juve until he was 24, and he was hardly the world's most famous youngster back then. Davids, and Reiziger, for instance, were regarded as better "prospects". And nobody would have given him a chance at that stage of career that he would turn out to be better player than Del Piero, Raul, and Ronaldo, so called big 3 cant miss talents.
Morfeo, on the other hand, were tipped to become the next wunderkid by the age of 16, and expected to become equal player to Francesco and Totti. The matter of fact is that it is hard to predict the learning curve of a particular player, and thus different people mature at different age. Maresca isnt the youngest player around, but I do think he deserves a chance, given that he opportunities had been limited until now.

But, Maresca's been called the next Zidane since he was 17, so he's got some serious hype surrounding him for the little to nothing that he's accomplished.

I have seen Freddy Addu play for US junior teams - He is a real talent. As long as Americans can be patient and provide right environment for him to develop, there is no doubt he can turn out to be a superstar.

I think the greatest injustice we could do to youngsters is by hyping them up. it doesnt serve them well in the long run, besides unnecassarily heaping untoward expectations on them, they are further pressurized by the media. who should just let them play. in fact, during the euro when the some1 stated rooney to be the next pele, besides laafing my guts off, i just wondered how bad this would be for him in the long run. not only will he get arrogant with such unbelievable comparisons and so full of himself he'll actually lose touch with reality. and in doing so, lose his own game, which is not exactly the best in the world, but at a very decent level.
