I dont know how many of us actually listen to electronic music, or know anything about audio synthesis, but i bet you'll find this weird.

basically what it is is a spectrum analysis of a particular part of a song, or sound.

you see these everyday in graphic equalisers on your stereo displays which are really simple versions of complex spectrum analysers

it analyses the frequencies- ie the bass, the treble and everything in between and puts it in picture form.

the two axis' of most spectrum analysis graphs are time(y) and frequency(x), and the density of the light usually depicts amplitude(simply defined as the loudness of the sound)

look at the last spectrum analysis of the aphex twin song. RDJ is a genius!!

Dude that last one's gotta be fabricated... either that or they just made a face and reverse-engineered the sound based on the image... in which case that's pretty weak :(

    whatever it is, its pretty newfangled. and experimental electronica is experimental. thats what it is.

    btw take a look at aphex twin's artwork- cd covers et all. and listen to his shit. read his bio on www.allmusicguide.com
