I think Melchiot is a decent pick up for free but on the other hand we have already signed up Melchiot clone RB for the same price -Jonathan Zebina! :D. Having witness the reaction from this board to Zebina signing, I reckon they will be a riot if we land Melchiot.;).

But seriously no, what we need is a starter quality RB and Melchiot simply doesnt fit the bill. Personally I dont like it, but it seems Bonera will be our RB next year. *sigh*.

On the second thought, I will take Ferreira if that ridiculous price tage didnt follow him!

Maxwell plays LB, so forget him.
I think, that Zebina could well become a good player here. He was part of a very good defense last year, and maybe he can show us that he has learned something.
If not, maybe Bonera can come here, and if he sucks too, Thuram can always take his old spot.

I'd take Melchiot in a heartbeat, not because he's so great, but because he's exactly what we need, a good solid defender who can be relied upon when needed. Especially because he's free and experienced, that makes him a great deal.

solid isnt really a word for mario (what a name).....when he first arrived he was really impressive with loadsa flair to boot.

But he is a clumsy passer and often lets a defender slip by or be in a poor position....oh wait, we already have zebina....mario's better :D

we need at least 3 more wingbacks if we are really playing wingbacks all season long.....right now we only have one..Zambrotta...
