Haha.

Sturaro is ideal as the 6th/7th-choice CM really. We're having to see a lot of him because of these godforsaken injuries. He usually puts in an average, solid "6"-rated shift where he isn't good but isn't bad either. At times, he's worse, but at other times, he punches above his weight and does really well like he did against Real and against Fiorentina 2nd leg in Coppa. That's pretty much what you expect from a reserve. Khedira's and Asamoah's injuries have been the problem.

Zaza might be OK as the 4th striker too, but the amount we paid for him was ridiculous.
Disagreed.

18m for reliable backup striker isn't much in today's market. Zaza scored 21 goals over the last two seasons, so he brings certain guarantees. He's coming off a good season, decent age and the deal is supposed to be tied with Berardi's one. I expect him to reach 10 goal mark this season. Can't really understand constant bashing of him. He might not be a world beater, not fancy type of striker, but questioning his abilities as to whether he should be professional footballer is ludicrous.

Zalayeta was a monster, it would be nice if Zaza achieves as much in a Juve shirt but he's only been here for 6 months.

They're not the same type of striker though.

Zalayeta was not a monster...he was a trusty soldier who accepted his role as a benchwarmer.

Zaza on the otehr hand... i dont think he will accept that role so early in his career. Because of this think he will leave.

And yes, we paid too much for a 4th choice striker.... but i want to believe he was somehow part of the berardi deal.

Otherwise it makes no sense.

he already accepted such role when he arrived here, and thats in a year where he needs to be at his absolute best if he wants to be on the Italy squad. i dont see the problem really.

he is 4th choice yes, but we play with 2 strikers and with injuries/suspensions/bad form everyone will get to play quite a lot. and no, the price is not too much. especially not when you consider the previous seasons payments which makes it a bargain deal really.

also ask yourself this. why the hell would Sassuolo give us 7.5M for him the previous summer? he would have stayed with them anyway and we could just buy their half this summer, so from Sassuolos perspective, how much sense does it make to purchase his half from us? and why would we even sell his other half if we had plans for him (read what Marotta, Nedved and co. were saying about him during last 2 seasons)?

its not really.

we bought him in 2013 for 3.5M - we owned him completely
we sold 50% to Sass in 2013 for 2.5M - we and Sassuolo coowned him
we sold 50% to Sass in 2014 for 7.5M - Sassuolo owned him completely
we bought him in 2015 for 18M - we own him completely now

in 2014 we were short on money (because we were playing EL) and were purchasing Morata and were planning to go for Iturbe. getting that money helped us surely, thats why it cost us a little bit more to get him a season after. nothing to do with Berardi imo, i might be wrong though

Don't think he'll get sold. Would be a stupid move as well, unless it's big money and finances some other move - but that's highly unlikely.
