It's quite easy to get into American universities, even in Ivy League ones.
Depends on what sort of classes you take in high school. I was at or near top of my class in most of the classes I took, but since I was in "regular" classes instead of honors or AP, I didn't have a chance of getting into a top school. Not to mention affording it.

The closest I've gotten to Ivy League is working across the street from Stanford. :D

intellect doesn't matter as much unless you're a straight up genius. and to get into those schools, you usually need to have taken all advanced classes in high school which is somewhat rare.

yeah that's not true at all. if you're not loaded you need connections or something like that.
It really isn't too difficult to get into Ivy league schools or any top university in the States, certainly for Europeans. I got in, but opted to go to study at Oxford. If you want a good uni, and you work hard and have some brains, you should go to England. Costs you around 9000 pounds a year, including accommodation and tuition fees.

When did you go to Oxford? Because they had a significant tuition fee increase in the last few years and it costs way much than that. I have a friend who is currently at Oxford and it costs her about 25 thousand pounds a year in total.
