    I'm not sure there are too many bands out there really like them, that's for sure! (For the record: I am a moderate fan.)

    Eloy and Tangerine Dream came to mind when I first listened to them. But as you said there is not many like this. I heard once that you are a Thievery fan, what do you recommend other than Thievery, please don't tell me Portishead and Morccheeba.

    If I reach back to the early 90s, Spiritualized had some of that atmospheric feel that Sigur Ros can generate. Then there's moments of Godspeed You Black Emperor -- but they get far too comatose and repetetive for me at times. At least Sigur Ros pulls odd sounds that keep you engaged.

    A close match to Theivery, IMO, are their Austrian bretheren in Kruder & Dorfmeister. Some really good stuff there.

    I like an occasional Portishead song, but I'm not much for Morccheeba.

    i love me so sigur ros...classify it as awesomely mesmerizing electric and every cool adjective out there

    Yeah, M83 have quite a different sound, but the soundscapes and emotions are very similar. And the Album Leaf's "In A Safe Place" was recorded in Iceland and a lot of the songs feature Sigur Ros artists. In fact one of them has Sigor Ros vocals in it! Great album!

    I would even go as far to say that Mogwai give me a similar feeling to Sigur Ros. "Happy Songs for Happy People" being the closest. Mogwai's latest installment is pretty good post rock too.

    just went to HMV and picked up 3 sigur ros albums for £18, not bad at all, just listening to them now and loving it

    I'm making a visit to London this summer, what are CD prices like there? I'm planning to buy some UK imports that cost over 30 bucks here!
