wow!! that's crazy! i never did that well....best record I think was 35 W 3 D.
by the end, my rating for tactical consistency was 1 :D this time i'm trying to develop a tactic every season, which is working , but my tactical rating is still rapidly decreasing. i do tend to change formation at the end of games depending on what I want to achieve, or what players I have available

i love your left CB

btw what is better?should i set passing to short, long, mixed or direct...i think i chose direct in my game.
what about creativity freedom?if i set it to "much" my players would do whatever they want instead of following my instructions.
finally if i chose to play offside my CBs wont stand back and try the offside trap?so if i have slow CBs am i doomed?
thx

in fm 07 i started with a diamond in summer 06 and its still the same after 9 years
so my tactic consistency was 20
on the other handin 08 where things are tough i change it according to whom i have to face
for example if im playing vs milan (4-3-2-1-) i have to put many MCs.
inter playes a straight 4-4-2,fiorentina a christmas tree, genoa 3-4-3 udinese 4-1-4-1.so my formation has to adapt to the opponents until i make my super 4-4-2 when i buy the world class players i need.as soon as i do that im gonna play 4-4-2 for ever.

Fast CBs are very important for offsides! crucial I would say, because no offsides trap works all the time. passing depends on the type of game you want to play, quality of players, size of pitch...creative freedom, I recomend setting it for players individually, more for creative attacking players, less for DM and CBs of course.

I recomend looking up the TT+F Tactical framework posted on one of the big FM sites, as it's very helpful for devising one's own tactical set

1: passing depends on tempo, short passing = slow, fast = direct, normal = mixed

If you play a fast tempo with short passes, the players will misplace a lot of passes.

2:Creative freedom is a game changer, both good and bad. If you have really sound players technically, like a ronaldinho or kaka or deco, etc. it could be good, it allows them to make the decisions rather than stick constantly to your tactics. On the other hand, if you put it to much when the players are not really creative and good at passing, and not technically sound, they will try to make crazy moves and their decisions will be wrong. So it can be good because players will make great attacking moves, but if it fails and they are out of position, they will get burned. (this can be done by position too)

3: "Playing offsides" is different from "offside trap". The offside trap is bad IMO because if you dont have good CB's, the players could get behind them. "playing offsides" means that your strikers will play offside and constantly try to make it behind the other team, but get caught offsides a lot, like Inzaghi.

so i ll give creativity freedom only to players like camo neddy dp etc...
i play i fast tempo so i correclty set it to direct passes
....dilemma is though, should i play offside or not....i cant imagine trez who is SOOO SLOW trying to beat the offside trap

What i've found is that starting a game with a high defensive line plus the offsides trap means LOTS of possession and very little for the opponent in terms of shots or chances. I'll often get an early goal this way (playing with short passing, mixed speed), and then switch to a deep defensive line, no offsides, and faster play, often with passing down the wings. but if you have a strong team, changing these things during the game can make a huge difference, especially if you pay attention to the AI formation.

def set camo to high creativity, he's awesome with it

I'm not sure you actually can set up tactics to try and beat the offsides trap, but if you did you could train the striker to move in to channels and beat offsides trap, tell wingers, and ams to play through-balls often, etc. I definitely would do it with trez though. use amauri as targetman maybe?

mentality-attacking
creativity freedom-normal
passing style-direct
tempo-fast
width-wide
closing down-mixed
time wasting-rarely
defensive line-deep
tackling-normal

also i set to zonal marking
tight marking
use target man
use playmaker
counterattack....

You play like an EPL team.
but i got Juve in a 4-4-2 formation with 2 MCs and 2 wingers.
its
GK Buffon-set to GK
DL Chiellini-set to full back
CB Criscito-set to center back
CB Andrade-set to center back
DR Zebina-set to full back
MC Tiago-set to midfielder
MC Nocerino-set to defensive midfielder
AML Neddy-set to attacking midfielder
AMR Camoranesi-set to winger
FC Del Piero-set to target man
ST Trezeguet-set to striker
problem is that when i set DP as targer man...even buffon and all the others target him but his heading is extremely poor and trez who is 1 90 sits all alone, masturbating because he doesnt get the ball.so i use IQ who is FC as target man because he is strong in the air and his strength ability is 20.

not sure how tight marking and zonal marking work together...do you set DMC to man-mark anyone?

lol, funny story, I was playing everton, unbeaten (IIRC) in the league at the time, and I got the usual scouting report, arteta as the dangerman. as of course, he is one of their best players, i decided to set mascherano to man-mark him. mascherano, of couse has extremely high mental and defensive stats. well, look what happened (arteta ended up with less than 15 successful passes, and was subbed after 69 minutes)
